I agree that we do need a dialogue to open up a constructive path of progress. That much is clear and I completely agree with the content of this post but I feel that in the last para, a few things could be elaborated further so as to avoid over simplification.

If you don't like the direction it is going vote a change it. Do something that can make a difference besides causing controversy.

The present day system of governance is a broken. The problem is that its the only one that we have. The system is mired in spiraling downtrend. The system of voting has been reduced to choosing the lesser of the two evils as opposed to choosing the best candidate.

Sometimes people feel frustrated about these things and say shit that is disruptive and I cannot really condone that, but I do feel that they deserve a bit of understanding.

I have a lot of understanding and get it. but you can't vote once every four years and complain.
I was in a conversation about the school system and he was complaining about it. I ask who is your school board rep, who is your state senator and representative and also federal. He had no clue. These are the people who are representing you and where you have the most control. And you don't care. This is the problem.
Government starts at the local level. Nobody cares and this is what the problem is. It is not the parties. The people allowed it to happen by sitting back doing nothing but complaining what the federal government is not doing. They are taking from us because no one says no where it counts.
We keep going down this path and we will have a one party system.

I do understand and can see the problem. But running a third party at this time is what the one party wants because it will give that party an advantage because it will split the votes for the other party. This was proven when Perot ran for President

I can see what you are trying to say. We have been afflicted by inertia before and even now persist in it. While the powers that be do as they please, most of us only complain, rather than trying to do something about it. One thing is obvious that sitting back and doing nothing would only lead to further deterioration.

I just made the first comment to bring to light the other side of the argument so as to round of the message of the post. Keeping the dilemma of people in mind while trying to find the solution is important, if we want the said solution to be a lasting one.

Yes dialog is critical and it seems that is no longer possible.
I am waiting to see the results of this election. to include the lower levels. The last election was an eye opening experience and the push back is incredible I have never seen the level of it here before

We always have to look at both sides of an idea or debate.
