Feminist Grows Beard in Defiance of Patriarchy

Political Activist Barbera Mentum has announced on her various social media sites yesterday that she will be growing a beard in order to help "defy the patriarchy and prove that there is no difference between the sexes." This is not Barbera's first act of defiant activism - she has done numerous stunts like this in the past, including joining the army, majoring in a STEM degree, competing in the Mr. Universe bodybuilding competition, and even impregnating women only to never call them or pay child support.

"It's important that the world finally understands that the differences between men and women are entirely made up." says the ex-weightlifter turned social justice blogger. "People exist across such an incredibly wide spectrum - assuming that one sex is better at anything than another has been proven, time and again, to be incorrect."

In fact, Barbera is hardly convinced by the concept of gender at all.

"It's true that there is a tendency among the sexes to do this thing or that thing better or more often than the other. It becomes a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, where girls are told they will grow up to be one way and guys another - and of course they follow these beliefs, realising it or not, and of course then the statistics are created which support the initial theory. But even in a society like that, you still get female athletes and male fashion designers or whatever. It's disgusting how people are tricked away from following their true passions. It's time to stop brainwashing our children."

Though Barbera is far from being the most controversial feminist blogger on the internet, she says she regularly receives hate-mail from people bashing her ideas, especially those concerning the inherent nature of the sexes.

"I got fed up with being told who I was by society a long time ago. That's how I first got into weightlifting, because that's what the people I disliked the most [at the time] were into and I wanted to show them that I could do it just as well, and in fact better, than they could. Then before I knew it I was a 'feminist' trying to eliminate the gender binary altogether. And every day I get hundreds of emails pouring in, and comments on my blogs, people who think I'm an idiot. Most of which are self-described 'men' who couldn't lift a hundred pounds."

So, to prove her point yet again, Barbera has decided to sit down and put her money where her mouth is - or more accurately, just underneath.

"Most of these critics can't grow a beard to save their lives. So I decided to grow one to prove once and for all how absurd the gender binary really is. If they are men and I am not - you'd think they might have a single masculine trait between them."
