Thank you, feminists

Hello Steemit!
Im speaking espacialy about current feminism. Hear me out.

15 years ago id likely have identified as feminist if someone asked me. Even then - the specific event im reffering to mustve been while i was maybe 11 or 12 - the actual narrative did disgust me. I didnt speak much, i might have aspergers (should talk about the terrible state of psychology and psychiatry at some time, but thats not now, suffice to say for now, one of the people who were "treating" me confirmed that she is an extreme mind-body-dualist. Got a metal rod through your brain and a subsequent change in personality? Just mental trauma, nothing physical about it) -
but there was an instance in which i did. Namely, a teacher spoke about current discrimination against women - i actualy punched the table and started going off on the actual legal situation, such as the draft. Not a good strategy, i know, cut 11 year old me some slack.

Her response? "Well, yeah, but i have to cook for my husband" - what? I have never seen that law, and even if your husband doesnt work(in which case, he most likely would cook), you are a teacher. You could invite your husband to eat at a restaurant three times a day, even if you were an elementary school teacher thats just started.

That didnt really lead me anywhere back then, but current Feminism lead me to question some of the assumptions i shared for many years, maybe 2 decades. Such as that historicly, women were opressed or at least discriminated against.
Oh, yes, some facts by themselves would seem that way. For instance, hebrews taking women of rival tribes as sexslaves - sorry, "wives" on threat of death.
When you put it in the context of men and boys being killed however, that doesnt seem so bad. Now, you may say its worse than death, and maybe it is, maybe it isnt, might depend on your personality. Either way, it is certainly preferable to have a choice between that and death than not to have that choice.
And either way, its not becouse they are men or women but becouse they are members of a rival tribe.
Yes, some women were opressed - not becouse they were women, though. The fate of Anne Frank didnt stem from her sex but her ethnic background.
This theme stretches all throughout the old testament and sharia(yes, both does put restrictions on women. Some of which are neccessary for men being able to perform the role they are forced to play, such as protecting their wives and daughters, some arguably to throttle intrasexual competition by other women. And do i need to bring up the fact that men who didnt dedicate their lives towards serving women - aka gays - were and are killed for that? Does anybody really believe men would object to other men not competing with them over women? I dont think so), and the new testament is pretty much based on a hebrew girl, and im paraphrasing, telling her fiance "I didnt cheat, GOD RAPED ME!" and being listened to and believed by enough people to have a religion based on that.

And later? Oh, women couldnt get a creditcard without a male cosigner? Might that have something to do with the fact that women cant be held responsible for any debts and often not even their crimes for which in some cases their husband would go to prison? Or punished for being abused by his wife?

Yes, if your husband ought to protect you from anything negative, even things brought on by your own behaviour, there are a couple things he has to be able to do.

They couldnt vote? Sure, there are caviats to that and ill get to them, but did they have to? Its strange how each generation of men is influenced by their mothers to such a degree that even who they are sexualy attracted to reflects the attitudes of the pevious generation of women, isnt it? And if raising your children can affect something as primal as sexual attraction, do you have any reason to deny that the same might be true for politics?
Now, of course this is based on averages, "not all" doesnt refute this any more than "not all" refutes your wage gap. Of course, averages in behaviour might do just that. And the fact that college educated single women now outearn men and its only older and married or women with child that dont might be another nail in that coffin.

And about voting? Well, since feminists often treat the US as the only thing there is, i will use that as example.
For one thing, women got the vote as soon as they stopped opposing it out of fear of being drafted.
But more than that, women got the vote in 1920.
Native americans in 1924.
Chinese immigrants in 1943.
Residents of Washington DC can vote in presidential elections since 1961.
18-21 year olds which could serve in a war but not yet vote gained voting rights in 1971.
Military members, other citizens overseas, living on bases in the United States, abroad, or aboard ship were granted the right to vote in 1986.

With all of this in mind i want to thank modern feminists and their ever more ridiculous "issues" for making me have a look at these things.

And to everyone else: Have a nice 4/20!

Oh, im aware.
There are many societal norms, while im aware of them i might often not be compelled to follow them.
In this case, there will be people construing it as an attack on women rather than societal attitudes.

Some of which mightve been beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint at a time where the upkeep of the population was something to be concerned about, not so much now that there are 7 billion of us.

There are many of those evolutionary leftovers which dont work as well with modern society and/or technology. For instance, guns. In the world wars, it was found that only about 40% shoot in the general direction of the enemy unit and only 2% shoot to kill. We see that in other animals - they may fight, but usualy they dont injur each others even if they had an opening to do that. Most species tend to try and scare a rival, threat or whatever it may be away rather than seriously hurting them. With guns, this becomes a whole different issue.
Novadays, soldiers are trained to have a conditioned response to shoot quicker than they could even have a thought about it, which comes with its own problems.
