Yes, I think it has something to do with the lighting - while it doesn't look like it, he was sitting in a pretty shady spot. If it weren't for a wonderful and patient guy over at the Hawkwatch website, I'd have no clue which hawk was what, which is why many of my pictures just say, "Mr Hawk" - LOL!

My husband adores hawks, so that shot has a special place in my heart too. I told him at the time it was his Father's Day gift from the Universe.
