Feathered Friday - For the Birds

Hello everyone and welcome to my first post for Feathered Friday

Today I have some Chilean Flamingos for your viewing pleasure.



These colorful Flamingos have been doing very well here at the zoo over the years and their population grows every year as they have gotten serious about breeding the last few years.

Here is a shot at the nesting area. You can see the large mud nest mounds occupied at the moment, each one is hatching chicks.

Imaged here are 2 of the newest members of the flock, the smaller one is talking it up trying to get food out of the bigger one.

The one exiting the water with his wings flapping is the mate to one of the nesting females. He will walk over and greet the female and give her some of the food he has collected since she is hatching the little ones.

These two mails were having..... words with each other as well as a bit of pecking


That's it for our fine feathered friends for today. I have shots from the two aviaries, one of the containing birds of prey.
At the moment their are a pair of bald eagles in on section and a couple of owls in the other. It's divided up into sections to keep em off each other's lawn lol
I think there are a pair of red tail hawks in there as well.
