I agree completely with the "take advice with a grain of salt" and the resulting "giving power away".

Advice is subjective, and what applies to others and helps others might not help us. I learnt this many times. Whenever I did so, I wasn't 100% in alignment with my resulting action, it wasn't 100% me. Instead we load ourselves with new baggage and external Truth, which then leads to putting the blame on others : I didn't want that in the first place" is our directive then, playing victim.
