Alt coins on the Internet: Part I: Faucets
Hello, welcome back. In the first post I introduced faucets as not good way to get some coins. But if you would like to introduce alt coins to your friend or would like to have some fun with that. It is the way how to obtain a low amount of that and get familiar with crypto.
Just to remind what faucet is, it is site where you can earn a small amount of coins for filling captcha and submitting for the reward. Usually there are some intervals for resubmitting to not drain the faucet. You should expect that there might be a lot of annoying ads and pop-ups since many owners of those faucet sites are paid mainly from ads (I guess they are mainly paid for click on the ads, that's the reason of pop-ups).
If you would like to get more coins, you can find another faucets by your own or use one of so called faucet rotators. Sites which provide you service of offering another faucets by itself, so you can just click for the next and do not need to seek or wait for the interval of currently finished faucet. Usually they collect the rewards to store it on one place and you can control that form the dashboard. Some of them might take a provision in some amount of % of obtained reward, it is different for each rotators.
Some of the rotators have affiliate programs, where you may get some percentile amount of your referral reward. Referrals may be acquired via PTC sites or you can try to “hire” them on social networks etc. I guess it is the best way how to enjoy faucet, just let click your referrals, but again, you would need huge amount of them.
I used faucet just for fun when I wanted to try some alt coin services with low amount, like online betting site like onehash.com which I will describe in the “Alt coins on the Internet: Part III: Online Betting”.
So lets introduce some faucets:
A) Moon Bitcoin
is one of the oldest faucet to purchase bitcoins, it has also own variation for Litecoins and Dogecoins. You just need to register your Bitcoin address or email which is connected to XAPO account. I would introduce XAPO like a bank for Bitcoins, but for bigger amounts (I guess above 1,000 USD, I am not sure now) you need to proceed verification process, I guess it is due to AML/KYC restrictions, which I was faced at my work too. Which might be uncomfortable for someone. They offer even credit cards to use your Bitcoins, but I considered them quite expensive. I would be aware even about their fees for transactions. You can find more here https://support.xapo.com/how-much-does-it-cost-to-use-xapo.
You do not need to create XAPO account and just use your BTC address. On the other hand, Moon Bitcoin make instant payments into XAPO wallet, while for your own address, you need to wait till Friday to get all your rewards. It depends how you would like to use your coins.
This faucet has minimal waiting interval set to 5 minutes and it allows you to get reward, with additional time you can collect more Satoshi (fractions of Bitcoins) but with longer time, less Satoshi are added into to amount you can claim. This faucet has its affiliate program, so you can get some referral bonuses also.
B) FieldBitcoins
is very the same as Moon Bitcoin. It has the same principle, and it also supports the XAPO wallet with the same advantages (or disadvantages) like the Moon Bitcoin. So, to sing up, you need just your Bitcoin address or email connected to your XAPO account.
As I tried that there were a little higher rewards than on Moon Bitcoin, but not much higher. It has the affiliate program too, so if you will find some referrals, you will get some additional rewards too.
C) Freebit.co.in
FreeBitcoin is very interesting site. You need only email to sing up there, that's all. And it is not only faucet. It provides traditional faucet “service” as filling captcha and submitting the reward, but it has much more to offer. You can try a lottery (draw is every Sunday), play Hi-Lo game (short version is that it is about betting if next number will be higher or lower then some threshold) to enjoy gambling (obviously I am not good luck person as the one on the picture, since I never won :D) or option to deposit BTC to earn some % from interests.
It has interesting features to get your attention and it is here for a longer time, but still, I repeat, be careful about how much you would like to deposit there. Still, it is 3rd party service and you do not have any control about your coins. On the other hand, I do not know about any big issue with that site. I will describe this in more detail in separate post “Alt coins on the Internet: Part IV: Freebit.co.in”.
D) Epay.info
This is one of many rotators I tried in the past. I have to admit I tried it long time ago, and it was OK, since they paid my coins. They also offer referral bonuses, but each faucet had different referral reward, so it might be even only 1 Satoshi. To sing up there, you will need only e-mail and if you would like to withdraw you coins, you will need some wallet of course too :)
I saw there are some other rotators, but I can not judge them, because I do not know them. But my opinion is, that they will be very similar. Please, remember, that it is not recommendation, it was just introduction into what you can find on the internet. And what I saw, many faucet and rotators which I knew even does not exist anymore. I choose just some which are here for a longer time to have a chance to try them and let you decide if it has any reason to use them or not.
And one more note to faucets. They can become very handy, if you are trying to develop some application and need to use some small amount of coins, or better way is to find some faucet for testnet coins (which may be hard for some coins), to verify that your app is working properly. Just a little note from developer :)
That was, in my opinion, most interesting faucets and rotators I know. Of course there are many others there and I am sure you have your own favorite faucets or rotators too, feel free to share them with us in comments.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in next post “Alt coins on the Internet: Part II: PTC sites”.
