Epic Battles of Everything #2: Nike vs. Adidas

in #fashion6 years ago (edited)

Adidas and Nike are the undeniable leaders of the world when it comes to "sports fashion." This has been the case for at least three or four decades now.

So, this "battle" and comparison is nothing new as the debate has been going on for several years.

Of course, such debates usually have no winners as both brands have millions of dedicated fans and clients that will continue buying their favourite brand for their own reasons. A recent study, however, suggests that Adidas has made all the right digital moves to take the lead.

The famous sports brand dethroned Nike to top this year’s Activewear US Digital IQ Index as the sole “genius” brand.“Adidas exemplifies the potential for achieving growth via direct-to-consumer sales, both online and offline,” the researchers said.
The study, which quantified the digital competence of 74 “activewear” companies in the U.S., sought to diagnose digital strengths and weaknesses of brands such as Nike, Under Armour, Timberland, New Balance and Adidas.  The researchers took into account factors such as the effectiveness of a label’s email marketing (message open rate, photos, video content), website customer service and product customization tools, social media engagement and ad impressions on mobile.

As for me? Well, I am an Adidas person - especially when it comes to shoes and jackets - but you may see me wearing a Nike tee every now and then.

Regardless, I strongly believe that you should wear and buy what you like best. There are no experts and "winners" in such things; it's what fits you better ;-)

Much like you, I have recently made a decision to get into much better physical shape. I tried to go to the gym in my regular street shoes (I am far too cheap to buy new shoes unless I have to).

However the gym fascists insisted I needed to wear training shoes. OK, I get that I need a more specialized shoe than my normal street shoe in order to work out in a gym. But why should I have to pay extra for a "name"? Aren't there many training shoes that do the job without having to pay the exorbitant prices for Nike or Adidas?

LOL@ gym fascists! That's why I avoid gym and I go for a more natural training these days.

Make no mistake, however, even though I agree with you when it comes to clothes (you can wear whatever feels comfy on you regardless brand) when it comes to shoes I strongly believe that "name" matters. You get what you pay for, never underestimate that and from my personal experience Adidas shoes are true science (the way they are designed and protect your leg).

The 5 weeks I was in bed most of the time, I thought of all the times I had an accident and I realized that I NEVER EVER wore Adidas when an accident occurred. That could mean something (or could mean nothing as well). Try ADIDAS running shoes on though and then put any ordinary shoes and walk for a bit. You will feel a difference, I promise ;)

Maybe, if I win the lottery :-)

He He...Just pray for an SBD pump and I will get you a pair of Adidas shoes. I promise ;) LOL

I used to be a Nike person but the last years I loved Adidas and some of their cool collaborations!! :))

I'm the same way! Did you ever see the commercial they ran with all of their athlete collaborators ?

When it comes to shoes Adidas is by far my No 1 choice.
But when it comes to clothing, well I think that Nike has more beautiful designs, while Adidas keeps its classic principles.

We feel the same way! Well, if you exclude Adidas Jackets which I consider EPIC (you know the long stripes from shoulders all the way down to your hands). However, I will agree that Nike's tees (especially) and pants are usually better and more comfy ;)

When it comes to shoes, it's not even close to me. Adidas alllllllllll the way!

Comfort rules. Function over form. Of course the perfect balance between the two would be the ideal scenario. I’ve owned my fair share of both but for different uses. Football boots vs trainers, etc.

So, Adidas or Nike?

I’m not a player. I just rock a lot.. of different brand kicks.

Currently I have no Nike trainers but have two football boots that I use. And currently have two pair of Adidas trainers that I wear. Buuut I'm currently in the market for some Nike’s.

I dunno man it’s a hard choice.

Uncomplicated article. I learned a lot of interesting and cognitive. I'm screwed up with you, I'll be glad to reciprocal subscription))

Thank you. I tried to keep it simple and not get into too many "technical" details and analysis because it would get boring quickly. I am glad you enjoyed it ;)

I live in developping countries for many years and now I find a waste of time to spend money in clothes. I only make an exception for shoes, because I like to feel comfortable when I walk and I walk for longtime.
So I buy a pair of sneakers every 3-4 years and it is usually Adidas. I'm faithful in that. 90% of the time I like the design way more.
I also think Nike has received a lot of negative publicity regarding how they manufacture their products, and people won't forget easily.
If there is any change about Nike, let me know.

I fully agree. Nike is all hype but not as good in performance or comfort. Adidas all the way for me ;)

I would say Nike (or even Puma) for the reason... that Adi was an asshole 😄 (search Adidas vs Puma to learn more).

I will bro, thanks for pointing this out (even though I will continue buying Adidas shoes lol)

That's an epic series indeed! Looks like I've missed out on the previous part!

Adidas for life! I like Nikes too, however my favourite football boots were always Adidas boots. I also love their Boost models and own a couple pairs of those. Have a good day!

Dope! Check my profile for real street fashion from the streets of Los Angeles!
