How to Transform a Boring Shirt Into a New and Fashionable Blouse

Hello, my dear family of Steemit, I will share with you how in an easy and economic way we can take advantage of our old clothes.

After an exit to the mall with my cousin, she fell in love with a Blouse to the Shoulders, but with the high prices that there are currently in clothes in my country Venezuela, she could not buy it.

Back home, I was sad. Then I asked him to take a shirt out of his closet that he did not like anymore that was going to give him a pleasant surprise.

The materials to be used:

• An old long sleeve shirt.
• Scissors.
• 1 carousel of pins.
• 1 tape measure or ruler
• 1 Cloth pencil or chalk.
• Elastic 4 centimeters wide x 50 centimeters long.
• Elastic 2 centimeters wide x 10 centimeters long.
• White thread.
• Sewing machine (It is optional).

Next the step by step

Step 1

On a flat surface we put the shirt. On this occasion it was decided to cut the part above the shoulders and the cuffs of the shirt. Then a pencil and the help of a ruler or measuring tape will mark straight, then proceed with the scissors to cut the marked part.

Step 2

In this way the part of the shirt is cut, we will also mark and cut the cuffs of the shirt.

Step 3

Once we have cut our piece, we will take our elastic to know the width of the doubles we are going to make both on the shoulders and on the cuffs of the shirt.

• On the shoulders the hem was 6 centimeters because the elastic to use was 4 centimeters wide.
• In the cuffs of the shirt the hem was 4 centimeters because the elastic to use was 2 centimeters wide.
  We will hold the hems of our shirt with the help of the pins.

Step 4

We will take our piece to sew, in my case help me with the sewing machine, but you can also sew by hand (that is, with needle and thread), do not forget that we must sew our garment with the same tone of the shirt, this time , the thread placed on the machine was white. As we continue to sew our piece, we remove the pins with care.

Once the seam has been made both on the edge of the shoulders and on the cuffs, finally we will insert our elastics, and then secure them with the seam.

• The elastic to insert on the upper part of the shoulders was 50 centimeters long.
• The elastic to insert in the cuffs of the blouse was 10 centimeters long.

Step 5

This way our piece is ready, with a beautiful ruching at the height of the shoulders and the cuffs of our blouse.

Obtained Result

This is the before and the after.

From a boring long sleeve shirt, to a beautiful and modern 3/4 blouse. This creation that I made with a lot of love for my cousin.
