Farooq Sheik, an Indian film, theater and TV on-screen character whose style of acting was noted for its ease, was conceived on 25 March 1948 in Gujarat's Surat area in a Muslim zamindar family.

His dad, Mustafa, was a legal advisor situated in Mumbai. Farooq had four more youthful kin.

He learned at Mumbai's St. Mary's School and St. Xavier's College. Following his dad's illustration, he contemplated law at Siddharth College of Law, yet did not discover the calling fascinating.

Amid school he met Rupa, whom he later wedded. Sheik was pulled in to theater from the get-go. He partook in plays by the Indian People's Theater Association. In 1973, when he was still in graduate school, he was drawn nearer by M.S. Satyu for a part in the film Garam Hawa. Sheik assumed a supporting part in the widely praised film.

He went ahead to act in such noteworthy movies as Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Chashme Buddoor and Umrao Jaan.

The 1981 Chashme Buddoor, a delicate lighthearted comedy which additionally featured Deepti Naval, is thought to be a work of art. In it Sheik assumes the part of Siddharth, a sincere understudy who goes gaga for Neha (played by Naval).

Recollecting the film in April 2013 after it was re-discharged, Raja Sen wrote in a post on rediff.com: "Siddharth is the straighter one, the studious one for the most part ready to take care of everything for his freeloading companions. There's Gandhi on his divider and his racks, and even the seat he sits in happens to be stamped Aristotle. [Sheikh's] guilelessness is exceptional: he quietly selects a radical new outfit and after that, when his young lady is awed and remarks on it, he priggishly says he's simply been shopping. Furthermore, he's simply holding up to be advised to stop smoking."

Maritime and Sheik worked in a few movies together.

In Umrao Jaan, Sheik assumes the part of Nawab Sultan, who favors the prostitute Umrao Jaan (played by Rekha). In a meeting in 2006, Sheik stated: "Nawab Sultan isn't a man of solid character, and can be controlled one way or the other. He can be made to act without wanting to and he has this awesome want not to disappoint his mom since she has had an awful time with his dad. I needed to take a shot at influencing Nawab to seem powerless, and not equipped for standing firm. Regardless of getting a charge out of the sort of economic wellbeing he did, he never practiced it."

Sheik's different movies incorporate Bazaar, Saath, and Kissi Se Na Kehna. He worked with the performing artist Shabana Azmi in films like Lorie, and Anjuman.

After 1990 he acted in less movies. He took to TV, both as performer and moderator.

He disclosed to The Times of India in December 2009: "I'm a sluggish performing artist. I despise chipping away at in excess of one anticipate at once. In case I'm doing TV, I simply adhere to that till my task is finished. In case I'm doing films, I don't take up other work till that is done . . . I was never excited about purchasing a chateau or an extend limo or having an enormous bank adjust. These were never my driving components."

Sheik and Azmi acted in the play Tumhari Amrita, coordinated by Feroz Abbas Khan, without precedent for 1992. In 2012, the play, an account of a relationship brought out through letters over a lifetime, finished a memorable 20 years.

In an article on Tumhari Amrita in the Mint in March 2012, Shreya Ray expressed: "The standing joke between the two performing artists and the chief is the apprehension of Khan and Azmi previously and amid a show versus the rankling self-restraint of Sheik. 'Farooq is continually letting us know: kabhi toh tum unwind karo (why not unwind for a change?), and we say, kabhi toh tum focused on ho (why not get worried for a change?),' says Azmi."

A private individual, Sheik would discreetly include himself in humanitarian and social causes.

Farooq Sheik passed on out of the blue of a sudden heart assault in Dubai on 27 December 2013, his demise coming as a gigantic stun to companions and admirers. He was 65.

After his demise, Deepti Naval, a dear companion, stated: "He was a characteristic and touchy performer . . . He wouldn't contemplate over a scene excessively. He would essentially come and concentrate the scene and give an impeccable take."
