The paprika is a vegetable widely used in my country, for the good taste it gives to stews, salads, and other foods in which it is used. Therefore, today we will learn how to grow them in the comfort of your home. Peppers are one of the most grateful crops to grow.
IDEAL SOWING PERIOD:
The sowing can begin in germinated calefactado in January - February, As of March you can begin them to sow in protected seedbed. The mechanism is the same and I will explain it in detail, simply change the greenhouse / germinator with which you do it, the winter has built-in heating and the spring is limited to a plastic dome that will protect you from temperature changes .
TRANSPLANT:
If you decide to buy the plant directly, in March you can find pepper plants ready to plant. If you live in cold areas, protect it with a greenhouse until there is a risk of frost.

They are very demanding in nutrients, so:
In pots use new substrate or enrich it with earthworm humus before transplanting
On the ground apply a good dose of compost or earthworm humus before planting it
Never plant them in the same place as last season, or where the tomatoes were.
Worship the sun, put them in the sunniest place you have.
SEPARATION: 40 cm between plant and plant, 16-20 liters of substrate per plant, depending on the variety.
The plants do not require much space, so they serve for gardens in pots and can even grow under cover and need a little extra care and attention.

The peppers need relatively large pots to grow and it is suggested to use a pot of 25 × 25 centimeters or a container of about 33 centimeters in diameter for the roots of the peppers to develop. The lower pots 9 diameters are not recommended, since each container will house 2 floors.
STEPS TO CULTIVATE YOUR PEPPER PLANT:
To make the seedbed of peppers, use a container or tray with a certain height and fill with soil duly paid. Go putting the seeds to a depth of 2 to 3 millimeters (avoid planting the seeds close together because it causes the development of weak plants that will be difficult to grow). The seeds of pepper germinate very well when the ambient temperature is around 26 ºC. If we live in a cold place our best option is to use a heated germinator to reach the ideal temperature of germination. The ideal is to place the germinator inside the house and next to a window that guarantees the sun. In this way we will have the seeds protected from the cold outside and we will be able to advance the season of peppers.
Between 8 and 20 days later, you should see that the paprika seedlings begin to germinate and just before transplanting the seedlings, you must dig the soil to aerate it and add more fertilizer to enrich it. You should look for a sunny area because these plants need daily lighting.
Peppers tolerate water scarcity well, but like all plants, they grow better in soils where there is water. Sprinkle your peppers whenever necessary, ensure that the soil is always wet and prevents puddles, as we have said on other occasions a puddled soil will only bring us problems. If you have decided to grow peppers in a pot, which is a great idea, remember that the substrate tends to dry faster than if we grow our peppers in the garden.
When we see that the peppers have a sufficiently large size and are already mature, we will proceed to their collection.
Use padding, it will be very useful to avoid contact of the fruit with the ground, thus avoiding problems and diseases that are transmitted from the ground. In addition, we will prevent other plants from growing around and removing the nutrients that the pepper so desires.

HOW TO REPRODUCE NEW PLANTS
One of the simplest plants to obtain its seeds. You take a pepper of the variety you want and open it as when you cook it to eat it. You will see a lot of accumulated seeds. Take that handful of seeds and store it in a place where it dries. It is important that you sow these seeds without wetting them as it is done with other plants because these can rot, unlike others that can do this like tomatoes.
