Preparation of a school cultivation, students of the sixth grade of primary

in #farms6 years ago (edited)

Hello dear friends Steemians, a pleasure to share once more with you. On this occasion I want to show you a wonderful project that I am working in conjunction with my sixth grade students at the Bolivariana las Catanas school, a project called "Cultivation and Medicinal Properties of Oregano". The first week we managed to make a nursery of oregano, and my students manifested the interest to elaborate a stonemason for the cultivation of the oregano and of diverse plants that could be harvested in the same one.

I must mention that these children live in a purely agricultural area surrounded by great vegetation, their parents are farmers par excellence, so my students have great knowledge about sowing, cultivating and tilling the land, many of these children they dream of being agricultural engineers, and of being able to cultivate the land.

I learn a lot from my students and at the same time I trained as an integral teacher. I'm always investigating. I consult several sources to bring them the most appropriate tools and techniques that are useful in the construction of the garden, hence the technique of the organic compound of natural waste as the sole source of fertilizer for the land.

The flowerbed or school garden will be made in the medium term with the objectives of: harvesting various items for the consumption of the students of our institution, encourage agricultural production, eat what we sow and as retribution to our mother nature when planting a plant. So in the course of it I will show you the progress achieved.

Management of the school flowerbed:

First encounter: that we had, my students and I chose the space to work, it is a small plot that is located in the back of the institution.

After having chosen the place we started with the day of weeding and cleaning the space, we used for it: rakes, hoes, picks and manually we were pulling the weeds from the root. With the help of the hoe the students made furrows in the ground. For the next meeting the students agreed to carry some trunks to make the rectangle where the land of the stonemason will be contained.

Second meeting: the students took the trunks, with help and supervision of several adults, including me and several of the workers who work in our institution, we proceeded to cut the trunks to a measure of 2.30m long by 1 meter wide, we also cut 10 stakes and began to form the rectangle. The children at all times were aware of every detail in the manufacture of the rectangle for the stonemason, were divided into teams of two for the other group to collect the land.

In the third meeting: after making the rectangle, part of the fertilized soil was collected and an organic compound was made (fertilizer created from three types of land containing great nutrients, among them we find: horse manure, chicken manure or chicken droppings, cocoa tree waste and others). We begin to fill our rectangle. We still need more land to fill the stonemason. In a next meeting we will finish this step.

We continue watering our oregano nursery, and the plants begin to anchor themselves to the ground, and the students manifest their enthusiasm in making a large orchard where they cultivate plants such as eggplant, chili, and tomato.

In the next post I will be showing the growth of the different plants that we sow. I must tell you that teaching to sow is a very rewarding activity, being in contact with nature teaches us how great nature is, in the way that allows us to meet with very peculiar beings. In passing, he teaches the children respect for this magical land and for our planet.

All the photos were taken with my LG Mini G2 D620 phone.

The importance of the human being lies in all the good that you have to offer to the world and in the love that you dedicate to things, the highest payment of your life will come when you find your true reason to exist.

Thank you very much @farms, whenever we make a garden, we will show that we can cultivate and harvest organically what we eat. So let's grow our plots!

many of these children they dream of being agricultural engineers, and of being able to cultivate the land.

Whooaaa.. that's really interesting @aksurevm89 😉 while children in different part of the world dreaming to be a pilot, doctor or IT engineer even games maker.. your students really have amazing dream. I don't think it was just because they live in farms but they must have learned something and thinking about how to develop their farmers family future too.

Thanks for sharing with us this wondeful project and I hope everything went well.. btw, I found your post through @porters entry post in the pay it forward contest this week. Wish you and the students all the best!

Thank you very much for stopping to read through @porters, my students learn a lot to appreciate the plantings, the crops, the cultivation. That process carried out by them is fascinating, they always want to know new techniques and apply them. These children live in the countryside, completely removed from technology, they are pure and simple souls who see the development of agriculture as a sustainable means for them.

It's really touch my heart @aksurevm89 😊 reminding me to my childhood and my old dream about being a farmer because I like to see my mother's fam cultivating their rice field, cocoa, cucumbers and many more while I was living in a town near to the beach and no agriculture practices around.

The children are blessed.. and you too, there's no boring lessons when you really learn what you like, right?

Correct friend, and there is no better way to teach and educate a child than from the arrival of his roots, of what he is, where he lives, of his nature. If they can understand how valuable and important our origins are, how they work and plow our fertile lands and their importance to self-supply and produce their own food in times when my country is experiencing one of its worst social crises. I am sure that these children are prepared to be in life what they propose. Once again I appreciate your beautiful words, good friend.

This is a great thing to be teaching kids, the ability to grow things.... and of course, discovering all the things behind it that make it work!

I have visited as you were featured by @porters for @pifc.

Well, if @bengy, the most incredible thing is to observe how children develop their skills and abilities in the elaboration of an eacolar garden, making decisions, the importance of the project in execution, the teamwork and the dedication and dedication that They put things to you so that everything goes well.

Such an amazing idea and it's great you are able to incorporate their knowledge as well. Having this skill set is almost necessary everywhere. So many countries are in the same situation as Venezuela that could benefit from a program like this.

You were featured by @porters for week 32 of @pifc's Pay It Forward Curation Contest.

@tryskele is true, in the face of crises we human beings get the best part, that this crisis teaches us to be more productive people, school gardens are an altenartiva to meet the nutritional needs of our students. They learn and are formed as socio-productive beings. Although I tell you that my students know a lot of farming and agricultural work.

I think it should be covered in school and I do believe jails should produce their own food. It takes a burden off the State/Country. I can understand in higher security or violent jails it's not possible but to have them to the work to help feed themselves might change their views on a few things.

It is an excellent thought, most people do not value productive work, and simply see the sowing as just a labor of farmers and farmers.

I saw your blog post in the Pay it forward curation this week. You may be interested to check out @simplymike and @organicgardner for the garden journal challenge. Your post would fit in great and I think they just started the new season.
