Brief review of Molluscs and Molluscicides
Snails and snails, these mucus-bearing animals have a habit of living hiding in the shade during the daytime. In the evenings the molluscs will feed on rotting or living plants. Various types of plants attacked damaging nurseries and new plants.
In the streets leaving a trail of shiny mucus. Because it is hard to find in daylight, its control is usually with molluscicides in the form of poisonous bait.
Examples of current molluscicides in Indonesia are The Bestan, Bentan, Yongtox and there are many other types sold in the market, for controlling snails in plants and for controlling slugs in ponds.
Mulberry snail (Pomacea sp) is a very harmful rice pest in rice plants 1-3 weeks old. This snail can be controlled with Bayluscide 250 EC or The Bestan molluscide which works in contact and breathing poison.
Just this is my discussion about Moluscicides and molluscs, hopefully this post is useful for all farmers. I suggest if the mollusc attack is still below the economic threshold so as not to use chemical molluscicides because it is very detrimental to health and the surrounding environment.
