The first goat babies have arrived, a week early, to Caldwell Acres!!
Willow, our herd matriarch, had her babies a full week early, which is highly unusual. She normally cooks them a week or so longer than her due date, so I knew something was wrong.
Last year, she had Quintuplets, born happy and healthy. I was able to support her through her pregnancy, with extra minerals, vitamins and calcium. This year I missed some warning signs, and I think the result is 2 of her 4 babies, didn't make it. They had passed away prior to being born.
This is our little surviving Doeling, she is going to be gorgeous!! Her colors are amazing, she has chestnut, frosted black and some silver black. I believe she is polled, so she won't be growing horns. I'll keep an eye on her as time goes by, but she is lovely!!
This is our little buckling. He is already trying to stand and move around. He also looks like he may be polled, which means he won't grow horns, but it's not for sure yet. He is bigger than his sissy, and will be a beautiful boy. Looking forward to seeing how he grows!!
It was an exhausting night, but we have 2 healthy babies, to love and raise and enjoy!!
Adorable little creatures 🤗
Thank you!! They are wonderful additions to our farm. I love when it's baby goat season!! <3 Next doe is due next week, then we have 2 more due in a couple more weeks. Spring is coming!!
