Photo Comparison: Smokey forecast for the Pacific Northwest
If you've paid attention to the news in the US lately, there's a decent chance you've heard of the heat wave in the Pacific Northwest and potentially heard about the smoke coming down from the forest fires in British Columbia, Canada. For those not in the area, I have a couple pictures below showing the difference in visibility. Both photos were taken around the same time in the evening, but on different days:
Smokey today
Clear different day
And from a different time of day, with better lighting
So the smoke is definitely impacting visibility and you can certainly smell it in the air. At night the Moon is a very deep orange - I may try again at getting a photo, but it's tough to get right.
We thought folks would be curious what it really meant to have the smoke from the fires. Keep in mind the fires are around 100 miles away, so there's no immediate risk to anyone here in the Seattle area.
