Writing about Dwarves - Opening statements
Ancient Wars is the series of books that I am writing on.
If you like Dwarfs in Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons and other fantasy series, then you will greatly enjoy the story that I have been working on in the last couple of years now.
New ground
Usually Dwarfs are depicted as an underground race and while it is completely true that the Dwarfs in my story will travel, mine and live underground, there is a very possible and strong chance that dwarves will have quite a bit more involvement on the surface world.
After all, if I write from a point of realism, then Dwarfs are always depicted eating red meat, drinking beer and dining on every other sort of easy to recognize foods.
Thus in my writing, the Dwarfish Clans will be occupying large areas of mountain ranges, between the peaks a person generally finds valleys and it is there that the Dwarfs will be doing their agriculture.
If any sort of food comes from underground then I will need to expand on that as well.
Appearance
My Dwarfs will look similar to regular Dwarfs from other stories and yet I have gone so far as to write and research particular things about their anatomy that will bring about actual reasons for their hardy constitution, stamina, thick skulls and powerful grip.
Things like night vision associated with these bury miners have been brushed off in the past as a "they are just like that" item and their vision is supposed to work in near complete darkness regardless.
They are not Trogledytes though... and no matter what you do to an eye, they do not work without help down in the deep. So I have opted for other sensory perceptions... More on that later.
Society
I have, over the years developed many Clans and Clan Kings who lead them, each owning a Kingdom. Ultimately, there is a head Clan, of which the Clan King is known as the High King of the Dwarfs.
The Chief Clan is known as Rak Gur, the Silver Mountain Clan, which is also the name of their capitol mountain fortress. There are other major Clans like Clan Durkhan, Clan Rog'gor and Clan Uris, but we will get to them in due time. There are quite a few smaller Clan Kingdoms and when the need arises a new Clan Kingdom is established.
One such new Clan Kingdom is an offshoot of Clan Durkhan where a competent non-heir son of the Durkhan Clan King took an expeditionary military force, a tribute of civilians, and engineers to establish a new Kingdom on the edge of Dwarfish territory.
More to follow
So I will be building up the known knowledge on the Dwarfs on Steemit, because after all, if you can read it here on the blockchain, then you can't very well plagiarize me later! Haha!
