Child Abusing Adoptive 'Mother' Received Justice, Convicted for Burning 80% of Girl's Body

Child abusing adoptive "mother" Samantha Osteraas of Tucson, Arizona, was found guilty of giving an adopted child, Devani, third degree burns to 80% of her body. This resulted in all her 10 toes being amputated and undergoing 29 surgeries and various skin grafts in the past 2 years.

A Pima County jury of 9 women and 3 men took 8 hours to deliberate the verdict last October, finding Osteraas guilty on 2 of 3 charges. She faces between 10 to 24 years in prison for hurting the innocent girl who was unjustly kidnapped by CPS and placed into the care of this wretched woman. And before that, Denavi was placed by CPS into the foster "care" of a pedophilia pornography ring and abused.

Oddly enough, News 4 Tucson reported that Osteraas "was found not guilty for the first count of child abuse. However, the jury did find her guilty for the lesser charge of reckless child abuse. For the second child abuse count, she was found guilty." I don't see why they wouldn't just apply both to her. They decided she wasn't guilty of "negligent child abuse", and of delaying treatment for the burns.

Despite her trauma and surgery, the now 7-year-old Devani is described as having recovered well and being a beautiful girl. She spoke oh her torment to the judge and jury during the trial. Since her burns just after Christmas 2016, Devani went through 29 surgeries, losing her 10 toes to amputation, and placed into a medically induced coma at one point with some of her organs shutting down.

Court watchers said "She looked so beautiful! She is so strong." Devani didn't act like a victim, but a strong child who surmounted the suffering that is almost unimaginable.

Even after all this, the legal system is still a half assed joke that still treats her innocent and loving parents as criminals. They were not allowed to see Devani in court. Can you believe that twisted shit? They are still fighting for her return, hoping that one day justice will prevail. Instead, she remains under state supervision which was the cause of her unbelievable trauma.

The courts and social workers are so evil that they brought in a crack-pot psychologist to argue that seeing her parents would be too "traumatizing" to Devani. Yes, it would be so horrible to see the family she was torn from, God forbid any healing take place after the state kidnapped her and made her suffer for so long.

Yet, no problem of her being face to face with the evil adoptive "mom" who scarred her for life. Totally makes sense... Court observers mentioned the terror Devani had even looking into at Osteraas, as she froze up for 30 seconds. But her, don't allow her to see her parents or give her back to them. What a fucking sick pathetic joke this "legal" injustice system is!

Osteraas is a piece of work. She said Devani burned herself in hot water, staying "there until Osteraas found her in a dazed state." But her story was full of holes:"

*"Deputy Pima County Attorney Alan Goodwin had urged jurors to use common sense in deciding whether a child would sit in scalding water as the burns deepened, and whether a mother who claimed to care would wait hours to get help. The girl was “on death’s door” before Osteraas sought help, he said."

If she was so innocent, she would have done what any loving parent would do: call 911 to get her medical help. But no, instead, she waiting 5 hours before calling 911, and that left her toes so burned that they needed to be amputated. She did however make 17 calls to a paramedic neighbor and her husband before calling 911. It would seem that calling 911 is the easiest thing to do. her defense was also pathetic:

"Defense attorney Jeff Rogers suggested to jurors in closing arguments Thursday that the child may have been in such a confused state that she mistook her mother helping her out of the bath for holding her down."

Osteraas' actual sentencing is delayed until December 3. The minimum mandatory sentencing is 10 years, while the maximum is 24. The jury found factors that increase the severity of the crime:

After the verdicts were read, the jurors returned to the deliberation room to decide whether prosecutors had proven three so-called aggravating factors in the case:

• that the child had suffered emotionally,
• that she was 5 years old when the crime occurred, and
• that she was harmed by someone in a position of trust.

The jury found all of these factors were proven, which will allow the judge to consider them when determining Osteraas’ sentence.

Osteraas' attorney mentioned that Osteraas was herself adopted, spent time in foster care and was abused as a child as well. This is often the case in this broken system. But being abused and abusing others isn't a valid reason to be more lenient to excuse that behavior.

While she was allowed to adopt based on her history of being in the foster care, biological parents are targeted and denied the right to raise their children for their own history in foster care. The hypocrisy of the CPS is pathetic. One can easily conclude that there is intentional misconduct to ruin lives. Some people work on overcoming their trauma, and some repeat it onto others, but CPS and attorneys cherry pick to suit their corrupted agenda of breaking families apart.

Devani had her legal name changed by Samantha and Justin Osteraas, and it remains so to this day. She is in foster care again, rather than being returned to her loving parents. This is thanks to her court appointed guardian Thea Gilbert who placed her first in the pedophiles home and ignored the parents telling her that Devani was being sexually molested. She even recommended to the court that the pedophile Frodshams be allowed to adopt Devani. Luckily ICE busted the pedophile ring, no thanks to this piece-of-shit "guardian".

Social workers also ignored adopted and foster children telling them about the rape and trafficking they underwent in that "home". All these people kept their jobs, but one child is now of legal age and is suing the state for million of dollars. There seems to be no accountability for these at the best incompetent workers, and at worst evil people intent on hurting children. Parents continue to have their children stolen and placed into homes of sexual molesters, rapists, pedophiles and sex traffickers.
