Children are the most affected by the crisis in Venezuela

Cordial greetings to all who read and support me. Thank God again I have the privilege of being able to write another article for you and it is a reflection that I have been thinking about how this crisis is affecting our children in the short, medium and long term. It is sad and worrisome but it is the reality that we suffer and the greatest damage that the country is suffering.

Before continuing with this article I want to make it clear that I do not belong to any political party, religion, race, ethnicity, or any other label other than human being and that is that I am not for or against someone because of their beliefs but because of their facts which are what make me think and act. I believe faithfully in God so telling the truth is a commitment for me. My intention is not to write this article to make the current government look bad, but if by exposing the truth it looks bad then it escapes from my hands, I would rather raise the flag than shut up and see how the future of our country is destroyed. I have no proof to look for the culprits, but I have facts to describe the current situation and that is what I will do next!

Health

(February 26, 2016.El Venezolano) - Aciaga tomorrow for the family of Maikel Mancilla Peña, that Saturday, February 20, when it was heard over the phone, "¡ay primo! the child could not stand. The child died", that was the expression of Yusmery Chaparro, the aunt of the unfortunate minor.

Maikel Mancilla Peña, the eldest of the four siblings in his home and of the family's 11 cousins, died that morning at the age of 14. The adolescent, after convulsing repeatedly for five days because he did not have the referred medication for his condition, lost his life.

Source: Another child dying from lack of medicine in Venezuela

All at birth are vulnerable to diseases because our immune system is not yet ready to face many of the viruses and conditions available when leaving the womb, which is why after birth should not take long to place these vaccines. The shortage of medicines in the country complicates things to children from before birth because already during pregnancy the mother must be taking vitamins and then medical materials are needed for the care of childbirth, many Venezuelan mothers suffer the agony of not finding vitamins or supplies necessary to give birth comfortably and safely and even after giving birth to get protective vaccines is an odyssey, in fact there are some that you can only get if you have $150 which is equivalent to more than 5 minimum wages, as a result there is a greater number of children prone to disease and the infant mortality rate has increased.

Food

The diet plays a fundamental role in the stage of growth of children and determines much of human health throughout their lives, which is why pediatricians recommend special diets for children that include all the vitamins necessary for proper growth and in many cases these vitamins are administered in addition to food. The food shortage leaves the Venezuelan parents without options, the children eat what the parents can get in the street with some luck, even if they had a job is not enough for much and the food in the basic basket are difficult to find, the result is malnutrition of children and parents, but children to be more vulnerable are at risk of dying from malnutrition as in fact there are already many cases registered in the country.

Education

The emotional part is also affected, the lack of food, the high cost of clothes and school supplies is leaving empty classrooms, it is also necessary to mention that because the salary is not enough for nothing many educators have left the country creating a crisis of professionals. Many of those who have not left are demotivated and have lost the vocation to teach (there are exceptions), the result is that our children grow up without an adequate education. Another thing that worries me is that all those who are being born at this time do not know what it is like to lead a life of well-being as any citizen so it is likely that they will accept this crisis as part of something natural greatly increasing delinquency which in itself is already a lot. I write this because many have not understood that those who are taking the brunt are our children who represent the future of our country, so we are damaging the future. It is time to reflect, there is still time.

I am very sorry to hear about the plight of your country and especially it’s children. I will look for organizations here which seek to help Venezuelans.

It is a very sad reality that we are suffering while those who have the power seem to care nothing more than to keep it! Thank you for your support!

You are wellcome

Thanks man really appreciate

This is really sad. Hopefully everything gets in its right path soon. I feel petty for such children. Hope for their welfare.

Great article, @jesusjacr.
I live in Cumaná, my wife is a elementary school teacher and we see on a daily basis the heartbreaking results of this abomination called revolution.
One more aspect we can mention in your exposition is Recreation.
Venezuelan kids are slowly but steadily being deprived of one of the most important aspects of their lives: playing, sharing with friends, going to places.
The psychological scars of this constant adaptation to limitations and negations is going to be life-lasting.
No matter what people may say about children's resiliency and creativity to make a jolgorio even out of tragedy, we are witnessing dramatic emotional changes in kids who feel there is nothing they can do in this country. On top of that they watch tv (maybe not for too long) and see "normal" kids in "normal" places enjoying life while they brace for ever stronger winds.

I hope your country will not end up in civil-war @jesusjacr

that would be the worst case scenario I can imagine

Yours, Piotr
