Romanian inter-country adoption and blackmail networks - European Ombudsman looks into Dutch whistleblower case

The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union, based in Brussels.

Multiple Choice Question 1

Imagine you are a Dutch Civil Servant, a mother. You work for the European Commission (EC). You're tasked with cleaning up then phasing out Romania's inter-country adoption system. So children can stay with their families whenever it's in their best interest (most of the time, you believe).

You notice strange shadowy lobbyists getting involved - trying to mess up your job. These lobbyists appear to be using the EC to set up a “kids for cash” - or “legal” child trafficking system. Which they want to keep going. When you don't give in to them, and continue to do your job, your life is threatened. Repeatedly. You're harassed at work, too. What would you do?

  1. Get the hell out asap - cleaning work will do - those pedo networks don't mess around!

  2. Make sure all lobbyists get your BTC address (you're open to bribes);

  3. Stand up to them, blow the whistle, start an anti-child-trafficking NGO and publish an expose?

Roelie Post chose OPTION 3.

Multiple Choice Question 2.

Imagine you are the European Commission. One of your respected senior employees, a Dutch mother, has informed you that irregular business and diplomatic interests are trying to interfere with the job you have given her to protect children's interests. She has been followed for years, burgled, has had her car stolen, received death threats and been bullied at work. The police agree that she may be in danger. She has requested your support several times. What would you do?

  1. Fob off Ms Busybody - ignore her letters - try to shut her up with a new office (but no job)?
  2. Call her doctor - order her to a shrink - chemically cosh her asap (for paranoia and schizophrenia)?
  3. Give her a boring job in Contracts Processing - make sure no one speaks to the b****?
  4. Mess around with her salary until you can get shot of her?
  5. Fuck procedure!
  6. All of the above.

The EC chose option 6.

Ever since she realised what was going on with inter-country adoption, Roelie Post has followed all the legal EC procedures for blowing the whistle. No one has taken any notice - Post has been forced to take her case as far as it goes. At long last, the the European Ombudsman has agreed to hear her case against the EC.

This is, pretty much, as big as it gets - Roelie Post is cornering the European Commission about the child trafficking, which is probably why no one reading this post will have heard of her.

Roelie is “exposing the perversion of the international adoption system - it is blackmailing EU member states:”

This is a case to keep an eye on for all European members of steemit's @familyprotection.

Roeli has had to go into hiding. She has been described as adoption trafficking victims' “ONLY trusted whistleblower”.

Under pressure in the early days, with a child at home to protect, Roeli was going to quit her job. Until a senior EU colleague said, “Please don't - please stay - please don't let the dark side win.”

In 2007, Roelie published a well-received book blowing the whistle. As an EC employee, she had had to ask permission to do this. The EC replied:

"If you publish this book and anyone sues you, we will take their side."

Book Review

When, in 1999, Roelie Post started working for the European Commission on the "Romanian Orphan" dossier she could never have known what she was in for.

Background: In 1990, shortly after the Ceausescu regime had been removed, much of the world had watched ABC's 20/20 documentary on Romanian Orphans (above). The shocking images on TV gave rise to countless "save the children" initiatives. Most started with the best intentions but it all led during the 1990's to a soaring market for international adoption of Romanian children.

In 1997, a point system was implemented: adoption agencies could earn points by investing in social services. On earning enough points, an agency would be given a child for international adoptions. This led to a massive increase in adoptions.

If Romania wanted to join the EU it would have to reform its child protection system. This meant closing down large institutions, setting up a foster care system and implementing family protection.

It was against this background that Roelie Post started work for the European Commission. Her job was to change the European Union's projects for Romanian children. She held the job for eight years.

From the onset Roelie makes clear that the adoption lobby has one primary interest, delivering as many babies as possible to the adoption industry, all in the name of a child's best interest!

The main (and highly unusual) lobbyists that put extreme pressure on Roeli and others to retain inter-country adoption were: the US government, adoption agencies, the member states Italy and Spain. For example:

Colin Powell, then US Secretary of State, told the Romanian Prime Minister that if Romania wanted to join NATO, it would have to keep inter-country adoption.

A French business man - and board member for Renault - and investment banker Francois de Combret (at the center of a recent fraud scandal in Guinea):

De Combret plays a major role in Roelie's book. Fundraising for his own organisation, Sera, De Combret bombarded the media and authorities with black and white pictures showing horribly underfed Romanian Orphans. The pictures, not representing current Romanian situations, were actually taken years before Romanian child care reform had started.

De Combret has a serious adoption agenda and Post's book unravels its workings. Several NGO projects (NGO's) affiliated to or working with adoption agencies are doing little to improve child care and protection facilities in Romania, instead focusing on keeping the status quo...... while preparing babies for adoption.

In 2001 Romania's moratorium on international adoption arrived, leading to 2004's adoption laws. But many adoption agencies had already assigned children to prospective parents so the moratorium led to pressure from several countries to stop it.

Roelie Post's book describes conferences, diplomatic meetings and how trade negotiations and NATO accession negotiations were used to pressurise Romania over adoption regulations.

Post witnessed in Romania maternities being run by American adoption agencies, institutions advertising Renault "everywhere" and orphanages that don't really care about the babies - because they will be adopted soon anyway!

Roelie Post started to receive threats, not just from the criminal underworld but also from her employer! The EC even phoned her doctor, ordering that Roelie be prescribed anti-paranoia and schizophrenia medication - this threat was ever-present.

The EU Ombudsman has not yet set a date for Roelie's hearing - but when it does, we must support her, not least because her testimony identifies key players in the global adoption-trafficking networks......

But will the EU hear her or will it turn a deaf ear as before?

Good Luck, Roelie!

Thank-you @healingherb for supporting @familyprotection

I'm sure that a person could spend a long, long time simply researching what this one brave woman has uncovered, and how she has been stone-walled.
Thank-you for bringing this to our awareness @healingherb

Thanks, @canadian-coconut. It's a David and Goliath situation - unbelievable that the msm can't give Roelie Post any coverage. I'll be keeping an eye on her case.

Thank you @informationwar - great observation.

you are simply outstanding . it took me a while for reading this but i really can't put it into words . mind blown!!!!!!!

Thank you for your kind comment. I do put a lot of effort in working in multiple languages (most of which I don't speak....)

Hi @healingherb I live part of the year in Bulgaria, our house is about 30 minutes from the Romanian border, I have friends who have worked closely with Romanian Orphanages, they do great work considering there is so much corruption, I have heard some horrendous stories about the conditions kids are living in. Great post :)

Thank you @nikkijmurphy. That's very interesting. How about you compile an anonymous interview with your friends and write it up for @familyprotection? I for one would be very interested to read it.

I just checked your blog - followed you. Listen - black salve. Check it out. No need for knives (in our experience - have a look and see what you think - look at the good testimonials) :)
