5 Things That Dads With Daughters Should Be Able to Do
Every dad with a daughter should be able to do the following:
Make pig tails
All daughters love to have their hair done. My wife is especially gifted at fixing hair. She can do ponytails, braids, and all kinds of different styles. But there are those moments when I need to step in, and my go-to hairstyle is pigtails.
Pigtails are easy and forgiving. And the best thing is that your daughter will be proud of you, even if her pigtails are barely recognizable.
And if you want bonus points, let your daughter brush your hair (even if you are bald, like me!)
Give clothing advise
Little princesses love dressing up. It seems like as soon as a little girl can walk, she will figure out how to dress herself. Hey dad, you need to start preparing yourself for several wardrobe changes throughout the course of the day.
Learning how to give constructive advice will shape your daughter’s wardrobe choices for years to come. Make sure that you know how to color-coordinate your own outfits first. Loving “bend” her towards proper outfit choices. Don’t “break” her little creative spirit. If you know how to give her advice now, then you will have earned the right to give her advice when she is a teenager.
And to be honest there are some days that it is not worth the fight arguing about what your little girl wants to wear. Pick your battles, but when she needs advice and help, be ready to give it to her.
She will think that you are cool!
Ask for forgiveness
Hey dad, you are going to mess up royally. Not just once in a while, but at least once a day. And if you are like me you will probably mess up several times a day.
You need to learn how to ask for forgiveness from your daughter. This is a tough lesson to learn, but this is a lesson that you should want to teach by example. You are not making yourself weak by asking for forgiveness. On the contrary, you make yourself look very strong to your daughter.
When you ask for forgiveness for the things you have done wrong, you are in a better place to discipline your child. She will do things that will make you mad, and she won’t know how to and will not want to ask for forgiveness unless she sees you asking first.
Say and Show “I love you!”
Be sure to tell your daughter that you love her. If you don’t someone else will. Hopefully your daughter thinks that you are Prince Charming, because you both say and show that you love her!
There are young boys lurking around that are ready to show “love.” You know what I mean - a “love” that is detached of emotional connection and solely focused on physical touch. We don’t want that for our daughters.
Speak to your daughter’s heart and set a high standard of love for her. Don’t create an entitled princess, but do nourish her heart so that she knows she is your valued “princess.”
Show your daughter that Mommy is #1
Your relationship with your wife is the most important relationship you have in your family.
When your relationship with your wife is rocky, your daughter will feel insecure as well.
Take time to be with your daughter, but also prioritize time with your wife. Show your daughter how a man should treat her someday. Show your daughter what a good husband and father looks like.
Set the high standard for the man who will eventually join your family and become the protector of your little girl.

Hi @sumatranate! I am new to Steemit and I really love this post. I am glad you are creating real content rather than just content for attention. I have followed, upvoted and resteemed your post. I saw @funfarmgirl ask if it's okay to resteem. Does resteeming need to be asked and why?
Hey @bubblybling! Thanks for the encouragement. It has taken me a while to find my voice on Steemit, but I think i am getting there. I appreciate that you followed, upvoted, and resteemed.
You don't have to ask permission to RESTEEM. I appreciated the kind gesture from @funfarmgirl. She was being polite when she asked, but it was not required.
Resteeming is like sharing a post on FaceBook, with one major exceptional. Steemit does not have FaceBook's "say something about this" option.
On Steemit, once you create a post you are essentially giving everyone permission to share it (in its original form).
Let me know if my answer was not clear enough. Hope it helps! Look forward to chatting more in the future.
I LOVE this!! Thank you for posting this. May I resteem?
@funfarmgirl, thanks for the comment. I would be honored if you resteemed it!

I really, really do. I would not change being a daddy for the world!
This is fantastic and I love its ingenuity.
@machhour, thanks for the comment and the support. Have a blessed day!
im a mum and i find pig tails the hardestto do so it looks ok , my daughter has dead straight hair so its gotta be totally symetrical . i think a single pont tail is best.
@skyrabbit, I am sure that your hairstyling skills blow me out of the water. For me pigtails are soooo cute that it covers up all of the mistakes I make. Granted I am not working with dead straight hair either.
Thanks for commenting and thanks for reading the my post. I appreciate it.
