In praise of Toast

Everybody knows the saying "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" and it's certainly true. A little self care goes a long way towards steering a happy ship.

Have you seen (or felt) the weather in England at the moment?! We are all in need a bit of fuss and a towel as it's very wet and gloomy here. I thought it would be nice to think about what we can do for ourselves. Something cheap. Something simple. Something that warms the very cockles of our hearts. Something like Toast.

What do I make my wee boy when he comes home from school shivering from a downpour and tired from walking up our hill? Toast. What do I make for my littlest fellow when he has a cold and won't eat anything? Toast. What do my husband and I turn to when we've been having a late night discussion and we're hungry? The Toast(er).

So tonight, instead of going to bed slightly peckish go and raid that breadbin. Shop bread? Check. Butter (slightly salted)? Check. Dusting of cinnamon sugar? Maybe.

Embrace that toaster and feel the cosy comfort of a childhood favourite come flooding back.
