1 1/2 Year Old Girls Can Be Pretty Tough!

in #family6 years ago

While on vacation in Arizona my 1.5 year old daughter, Vanessa, took a pretty good digger into the corner of a door. She was walking from the pool at my step-brothers house into the house and tripped coming in. The corner of the door caught her right on the edge of the outer right eye and it cut pretty deep causing some serious bleeding.

She obviously was scared and started to cry. It was hard to console her during all of this, but we needed to get the bleeding to stop and try to close up the wound. It wasn't a long cut, but likely could have used a stitch or two. We, as in our family, were confident in our in-house doctor skills so we self administered first-aid.

I held Vanessa down while my sister-in-law cleaned the cut and pushed gauze and ice against it. Vanessa was crying uncontrollably for most of the ordeal but eventually tired out and actually fell asleep while we butterfly bandaged her up.

We left their home and headed back to our Airbnb for the rest of the evening. Vanessa slept the entire time and didn't wake until we were home. This was a scary ordeal for her, but she handles it like a champ and I was so proud of her! Here are a couple more picture of her being her happy self the same day of the accident.

That smile can brighten up anyone's day. It sure brightened up ours after what she went through.

I hope you enjoyed this post!
