My father was stuck in the floods a few days ago.. Humanity won that day!
“My father was stuck in the floods a few days ago. He left his office at Mahalaxmi at 1 o'clock and thankfully found a cab driver who drove him ‘till Bandra. That journey took a good 4 hours to complete, but the driver didn’t charge my father an exorbitant amount-- he just said, ‘give me whatever you can afford’ and my father couldn’t stop thanking him. He then had to walk in knee deep water across Bandra, where he said that a group of Muslim men were helping people to cross the flooded roads, and directing them towards the shortest route. They were also helping women and children who were stranded on the road, by stopping cars and requesting the driver to accommodate them.
One such tempo stopped for my father and 10 other men. He was a young Muslim man who was transporting furniture, but to accommodate people he shifted the furniture as much as he could, and discarded what wasn’t fitting to make sure they could travel comfortably. He paid for everything himself and offered to get tea for everyone at regular intervals. He dropped my father off at Andheri and continued his journey to drop the rest off. My father then swam to reach home, only at 10:30 PM. He had cuts and bruises, he was hungry and cold but somehow he still had a smile on his face. Humanity won that day and even though he may never see those who helped him again… they touched his life in a way that he’ll never forget. He’ll forever be grateful to them.” ~ Ashita Nambiar. from India.
May God bless all of them. Humanity is great!
