There may still be some father or mother who still ask the same question...
Is it necessary to explain everything to children? Is it not better to keep children and young people as innocent as possible?
Ignorance or innocence can be dangerous. It is *better to instruct and inform our children about something as significant and beautiful as sexuality than to leave them without guidance.
Today as opposed to 50 years ago, this "innocence" is virtually impossible. Sexual and erotic messages, if not pornographic ones appears everywhere and it is difficult to escape from them.
We had no doubt that adolescents need clear, serious guidance and advice in this respect.
Now the most important question to ask now is..
What should the adolescents be taught?
And who should give this sexual instructions?
It is fundamental for teenagers to receive sex education along with ethical, moral and responsible guidance and the family should give this knowledge about sexuality.
If parents begin their children's sex education in early childhood, when they reach puberty they will naturally maintain communication and dialogue with those whom they trust, and with whom they have a relationship of love and friendship.
Adolescents must understand the function of the sexual act and know about the process of conception and it's control. Also they must be familiar with pregnancy and the birth process.
Finally, they need to be warned about the different STDs (sexually transmitted Diseases) with the risk and implementations.
