RE: My encounter with Jesus.

No, meeting with him is to admit you're a sinner, accept what he did on the cross to pay for those sins, and accept him as Savior and Lord.

We're saved by faith alone in Christ alone guided by the Bible alone. Not by infant baptism, good works, and obedience to church rules.

(John 3:14-18 NIV) Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, {15} that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. {16} "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. {17} For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. {18} Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

(Luke 23:39-43 NIV) One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" {40} But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? {41} We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." {42} Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." {43} Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

If you accept Jesus as your Savior and you want to grow as a Christian do these things:

Pray everyday. Use the ACTS model of adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. Confess your sins to God. Not to a priest. Pour your heart out to God. Don't recite the Lord's Prayer. It's a model. An example. Not something to recite.

Read the Bible. Get a translation you can understand. Like the NIV. I prefer the 1980s NIV Study Bible without the politically correct language. The notes are great. Start in Matthew. Read at least three chapters a day. When you're done with the New Testament start reading the Old Testament.

If there's something you don't understand you can always do a Google search like this: Matthew 10 24 commentary. Check them out. See what they say.

Find a Bible believing church where the pastor preaches from the Bible. The Catholic Church isn't the place for you if that's where you are. Go to church every Sunday. Join a small group Bible study.

Listen to scripture based Christian music. I find that it feeds me spiritually.

Listen to Bible podcasts. The best that I've found is "Thru the Bible". You can download Dr. McGee's 5 year Bible program for free at ttb.org.

Last of all, take obedience seriously. Put into practice what you learn. Get rid of the sin in your life.

Sort:

I attend mass on Sundays with a catholic priest, his homilies, they always tell me teachings, that he tries to practice throughout the week, I make those prayers that you say of repetitive type but I meditate deeply.
Thank you very much for all the suggestions that you give me, my intention is to continue deepening in Cristojesus. That if I take it as my Savior.
