I had not heard about this one in awhile, but it is true... this CNN writer wrongly outed someone as one of the Boston Bombers and the guy eventually commited suicide... :( :(

Doxxing should have consequences. It is no different than cyber bullying someone who commits suicide. Why do we only reserve the right for punishment on "Hard Bullying" and not "Soft Bullying". A person who contributes to your death by wrongly labeling you a suspected terrorist deserves some blme and punishment, especially when the Police didn't say this guy was actually a suspect.
Loose lips sink ships as the old saying goes. And CNN will dox you and ruin your life. Stay anonymous online. It is important.

I agree very much. I think if someone is giving away another person's information with the intent of outing them in a hugely public way that can cause harm/loss of job/etc, it should be illegal.
Iwonder if the onnly reason it isn't illegal yet is because our laws have not caught up with this phenomenom, because you really couldn't dox people before unless you like hired a private investigator(before the internet). Or you had to do it yourself and Iam sure it was next to impossible to do.
It always seems like the USA is decades behind on what should be legal or illegal.
People look to the news regardless of where it is from for truth and insight in what is happening in our world. So yes I believe they should be held accountable for creating stories that are fake or just plain reporting what they think instead of what they know. until we start holding them accountable it will not change. they twist the truth to favor their side of it. they make up what they want for ratings and to further their agenda.
I am very glad we live in the age of the internet where it is becoming easier and easier to do this :)
