Realnot - vote out fake news

Realnot is a project at its earliest prototype version at the moment. What Realnot hopes to achieve is to allow the general public to share news articles, where the rest of the community can vote out fake news.

Realnot do not decide, or conclude, if a news article is a fake news, or not. Every result is only based on general consensus of the members in the voting channel of Realnot on Telegram. Users who have doubts over certain news articles, can take the article into the Realnot platform, and look at what other users think of the news through the voting process. This can help the community be aware of a news article that is potentially fake or inaccurate, and that will greatly reduce the impact of fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Aside from this, Realnot hopes to develop further into a curation platform for fact-checkers in future, where active members can become a verifier of fake news.

The main job of a verifier is to provide further proofs, justifications and reasonings on news articles, based on knowledge, or research within their means. News articles these days can be very opinionated, and not simply just real news, or fake news like 1s and 0s in binary. This often sends a mixed message to readers. Verifiers can step in, along with other verifiers, to provide a breakdown on the news article, or a further understanding of certain facts. Other verifiers can also ensure the accuracy of statements made by their peer verifiers. When a statement is made by a verifier with regards to a news article, other verifiers will have to vote, if the statement can be allowed to be published.

As we’re in the prototype stage, we can only provide a platform for news voting. We don’t have a community for verifiers at this moment as well. We’re looking at highly active members, hopefully such members can become a verifier in the near future. We have a RNT point system, which rewards every user for actions like, voting in accordance with views of the general public, and posting of articles into the platform for voting. There will be a RNT leaderboard which shows the more active users, and our first group of verifiers will be chosen based on the RNT awarded to them.

Realnot will also work towards incentivising work done by verifiers through ad revenues of Realnot. This does not mean, Realnot attempting to force feed ads into our users, or even collect and use the data of our users. Realnot wish to position itself as a decentralised platform, as its primary function is to help the general public to protect themselves against damages and inaccurate or fake news can do, and at the same time, provide incentives for verifiers to ensure the general public get educated with more in-depth research conducted.

If you’re reading this, and feel that Realnot can make a difference, please invite your friends and families into the Realnot groups, as we need a strong community for the developments to happen. Without mass users, we will not have a respectable group of verifiers, we will not have revenue streams coming in, Realnot will not be able to develop further, and more importantly, our family and friends might fall victim to fake or inaccurate news again in future.
