Selling Your Designs
Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest all follow the same general process towards growing and receiving sales on your Amazon t-shirt designs. I would use these platforms if you happen to create and find a lot of success for shirts under the same general niche. I would also only use these platforms if you have hired an outsourcer to design your shirts or if your shirts are of a higher graphic quality, as text-based designs do not bring in as many sales outside of Amazon. You may also have to spend a few dollars if you are looking towards growing an attractive brand.
Instagram
For Instagram, you will first want to download the app on your phone and then fill out the necessary information such as your name, username, and bio, which is where you should sell yourself and your brand. The brand in this case, should be related to the brand name you have for your niche Merch designs. For your website, you can create a free one with WordPress or Google Sites with images of your t-shirt designs and links to the Amazon page of your listings. There are free tutorials on YouTube which show you step by step on how to set up a free site if you go this route. If you do not want to set up a website, you can instead use bit.ly or another link shortening service to shorten the link to your Amazon brand page.
You will then have your account setup and should start posting pictures of your t-shirt designs in a unique, creative, and attractive way. You can find someone for $5 on Fiverr to model a t-shirt for you or you can go to Placeit where you can place images on templates. In our case, you will be placing your preferred t-shirt designs on models so that we get more of a response from Instagram users who are interested in your niche. After downloading the image and paying a small price if needed, you should upload your image with plenty of relevant hashtags (#). For example, if I had a fishing Instagram page and I uploaded a fishing t-shirt design I would include hashtags such as #fishing, #trout, #fishingclothing, #fishingapparel, #salmon, #fishingrod, and more.
After posting a few attractive pictures with your designs on them, I would look towards growing your account following so that you will receive more sales. This is likely the hardest process and will require a lot of commitment and consistency. There are many methods towards growing your Instagram account legitimately, but the main methods include following those who comment on your images, following other Instagram accounts within your niche and being active on Instagram by continually liking and commenting on relevant images related to your niche. Essentially, if you keep on following relevant users in your niche, continue to post high-quality attractive designs, and keep active within your community, you will eventually see a gradual increase in your followers and Merch income!
Twitter
As mentioned before, the process for growing your account on Twitter will be like the Instagram method. Create an account and change the header photo and profile picture to something relevant to your niche. Use images from Pixabay if you can. You will still want to use hashtags, follow other users, be active within your community, and display your shirt designs on models. You should also not only post images of your t-shirt designs and should spend time discussing, asking questions, and communicating with your followers on your chosen niche. Only about 1/3 or 1/4 of your tweets should be for advertising your t-shirt designs. You can take a similar approach to Instagram and may see better results as a result.
Remember that you have a 140 maximum character count limit per tweet. After achieving a decent following, everyone who follows you will begin getting your Twitter posts in their feed which can drive significant amounts of traffic to your t-shirt brand link or design. Twitter is probably the simplest and least time-consuming of all social media platforms, other than Reddit, for driving sales while having a mixed demographic user base.
In the next post, I will cover three more ways of selling your designs for even more profit!
As always, let me know if you have any questions.
