Why is everyone in Australia getting sick of facebook? I'll show you whysteemCreated with Sketch.

We're all here on Steemit, because we've discovered Blockchain in one way or another. A friend taught us what Bitcoin is, our job involved a lot of coding and we came across Blockchain technology at a FinTech networking event, or maybe you even jumped on the deep web to see if people actually sell weapons there and noticed they all sell goods in exchange for Bitcoin. Whatever it is, you found out the potential of blockchain and you ended up here.

However, you've also been on social media before. Whether it was Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Myspace, Instagram or Snapchat. You read articles about the potential that Social Media has as well in terms of being a platform to deliver huge amounts of information in real-time globally, reach out to people and share ideas, opinions and news.

But what's it really being used for... Well, from what I see frequently on a lot of popular Australian Facebook users... these videos might give you a better idea

TL;DR anyone with a large following on Facebook, well, has anyone really got an idea about how they managed to amass a 100,000 followers or more? Yeah, me neither...

Unfortunately, especially Facebook lately has been known for creating a false sense of accomplishment from collecting more likes, friends and followers. You see people judging their worth by how many likes and followers they get, no matter what they do. I really have no idea how it happened like this.

So, why is it that so many people are still on Facebook, and yet there are these faux-influential Facebook INfamous individuals, who bring no genuine value to anyone or anything in their daily lives, except for getting more likes? Well, because of one reason... Because everyone I know is on Facebook.

So.. Hypothetically.. What if everyone you knew wasn't on Facebook? Well, there really wouldn't be any value at all. In fact most people would be pretty sick and fed up with anything else that was left on Facebook. Literally, the only thing that it has going for it is the numbers, not actual value or worth, valuable or correct news information, sharing of ideas, in fact there is nothing that Facebook represents the most value out of when compared to alternative social media sites. Even when I log in to my google+ account, I see genuinely interesting information and accurate news.

How come we don't all move on from Facebook?

Well it's pretty straight forward. Once you discover the information out there available with new social media platforms, Facebook is just incredibly obsolete. But the paradox is that no one who is using Facebook cannot discover anything outside of Facebook, because Facebook itself does not share information about alternative social media websites. That means that to discover new sites and new information and communities out there, more and more often you're having to look outside of Facebook to discover them. Again a problem, because everyone gets all their news, from (yep, you guessed it) Facebook.

So we're all sick of Facebook but we're not deactivating Facebook. Seriously, what gives Australia?

I'm all ears for helping people discover what else is out there, once you deactivate Facebook, all these faux-losiphers disappear, all the fake news disappears, the constant selfies, the half naked photos which are apparently not for attention, all of the lack of self-control with sharing too much information online disappears. It's so refreshing and you have so much more time to discover so much more.

There has got to be a way to show people that there is so much more out there, and to give influence and a strong following to people who provide genuine value to the online communities they are a part of.

I've shared Steemit to every friend who I come across when they ask me why I'm not on Facebook. They all see the trending posts, I jump on Bittrex and show them how to cash out STEEM for BTC, and converted again to AUD. An unreal idea that you are rewarded for providing engaging information, and you also provide more rewards for not upvoting everything in sight in order to keep your STEEM power higher. But then no one ever joins steemit or stays blogging on Steemit, because they know one person on Steemit. One friend did also mention that it looks more like a blogging site than a social media site though, which I'm sure moving forward the developers are going to be working on.

Sorry for another rant but I sure hope I'm not the only one who thinks like this. There has got to be a way to show everyone that there are better things out there on the world wide web.

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately most sheeple have found Farcebook as a nice warm cosy cocoon to spend time in. I am so happy I found Bitcoin and then Steemit. #steemon
