Is Facebook screwed? Their investors don't seem too happy. Let's take a look
Facebook share price over the last year
If we look at Facebooks share price over the last year, you can see it's taken a massive tumble!
From a peak of 193 to 159, that's an 18% drop
That might not sound like a lot, but that's more than $50bn lost in market value. You could buy more than 10 Steemits with that money alone!
Is it the wider market rather than just Facebook?
Lets take a look at the NASDAQ
From recent peak of 7588 to 6993, that's an 8% drop around the same time. But Facebook has fallen much further!
How are the other tech stocks doing
Another darling of the tech industry, Netflix has not been as heavily effected. Let's take a look at the graph
From a peak to current price, the difference is 31/331 which is 9% drop.

Are Facebooks days numbered? Or is this just a blip?

i don't think facebook will be out of the game anywhere soon.
where i'm from facebook is barely used for it's original purpose, but much more as a news-feed or a login-method for countless mobile games, shops, etc. That alone is enough for facebook not to cease, i think :)
That's a very good point.
One of the main reasons I have kept my Facebook account is for it's other uses.
However, I am talking about Facebook profitability, and that comes mostly from having active users who give them data and viewers for advertising.
Remember, social networks are all about momentum and critical mass. If they are found to have helped the Russians, how many people will boycott and move elsewhere?
I hope they are not only screwed but I hope they face a real lawsuit that tanks them for good, what nobody is seeming to want to bring up is that these guys just a couple of weeks ago were asking for people to send them "NUDE PHOTOS" so that they could prevent others from posting them on their site, yet every piece of information that they were acquiring and other information that they were not given permission to acquire was being sold from their site?!?! Can they be trusted? No! #deletefacebook and don't look back.

I think marketing platforms will always look for the users and their time/dollars. I believe Facebook is on the downfall but it will be a slow one as the tech savvy and those who deeply care about their privacy (or are even aware about Facebook's practices) make up the smaller part of the market. Hopefully things will change for Facebook and they'll be able to recover from this but cultural trends, in my opinion, say otherwise.
I think with technology, the barrier to moving from one platform to another is quite low. So people can easily move.
If we look at something like Netflix, no adverts but very successful. Could this be the trend?

Good analysis. I have also read an article about Bitcoin being in correlation with the stock market. So far Bitcoin is also going down, together with Nasdaq and it is pulling Steemit down as well. I don't think Facebook is hitting the graveyard just yet, event hough I personally hate using it. It is always loading so slow and it is hard to find anything around that place. Now with Instagram integration even worse. :))
