Driving an automatic is relaxing.

Culture had to take a break today.

Bianca wanted to go to the beach and the beach alone today

I was fine with it. I’m enjoying the beach way more than I thought (as long as there is some shade to hide).

She found a nice beach around a hour away from us so I could drive the van again today.

The van is an automatic btw.

Now, when I was growing up automatics were very rare.

The story went around that automatics were for people that didn’t know how to drive properly. Manual driving was the best for some reason.

And I remember believing that story for a very very long time.

But the strange thing is once you drive an automatic that story becomes a lie pretty bloody fast.

At least for me.

My car at home has a stick but driving this van around on this island all I can think is how relaxing and easy an automatic is.

Just press the gas and go. No hassle. Just easy.

Haha!

One of the things I personally enjoy about growing older is that you slowly discover the bullshit of what you were being told in the past.

This example is just a small one.

I have many stories in this department but I have no time for those because Brasil’s quarter final is about to begin!

Greetings, Exyle

Really man, driving auto car gives a much greater comfort feeling. But one thing I imagine happens to give you immense comfort is in relation to the city streets and Highway roads. The roads there have good asphalt, of quality. I imagine the streets are too. Here, the asphalt does not have its material with so much quality, so it lives giving some "defects", leaving the track full of holes, for example. This, in addition to facilitating accidents, makes the tires of the cars have to be shaped to withstand this type of road. Even though they are molded, they wear fast, making the journey more dangerous, besides being something very devious having to drive by deflecting or passing over holes!!!!!

Thanks for posting good night!!!

thanx

...🤔

I was wondering when you would show up :).

...especially when you have kids in the car & a coffee on the go!! LOL

@exyle I remember when I was learning to drive, all we had was a stick shift car for me to learn on. So when I got my first car, it was of course, a stick shift. Then when I got an automatic, I kept finding myself, out of habit, trying to hit the clutch and change gears! Have you found yourself trying to do that on your holiday yet?

Yeah it has happened! :)

Good to know I'm not the only one! :)

We really agree on many things, I have a very old car, but it is automatic and I love it, of course I would like to have a newer one, but now it is very difficult, but not impossible, I know I will have it in time, but I do not like the synchronic or lever as you say, I prefer them for more automatic convenience.
With regard to the beach, I laugh a lot because I am the same as you, I love the sea, the beach, but while there is shade, I do not like the sun, I hide from it everywhere, so I know what you feel when you are there
But I admire you, that despite that, please Bianca to take her to the beach so she can enjoy it. Greetings dear friend.

I can't stand manual transmissions. I know that means I need to turn in my man card, but it doesn't make sense with the advancements with automatics and the amount of stop and go traffic. I still don't like CVT's though.

The story went around that automatics were for people that didn’t know how to drive properly.

I noticed the same thing. In US we have probably 99% cars with automatic transmission. I look at it as a huge convenience. When I traveled to Europe, I specifically requested car with automatic transmission. I remember their look 👀 lol. Just like you mentioned, they looked at me with this face, like at someone who doesn’t know how to drive.

These days it is rare to find a manual. I am 42 and I have never even had the chance to drive one. I understand the concept and I think I could do fairly well if I had to, but the opportunity has never presented itself. I have known nothing but automatic transmissions since I was old enough to drive. My wife can drive a manual and she misses it sometimes though.

LOL. Indeed we are told many lies like this. My mom always have drove an automatic car so I've known them sine since I was a kid and I'm 34. Maybe automatic cars weren't popular or common in your country, I don't know haha. By the way, by the time you read this, brazil will have lost the game already, sorry about that.
