An explosion rocked one of the supermarkets in Shiraz City, Iran, and injured 37 people on Saturday (3/6).

The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that a gas leak allegedly triggered the explosion that occurred at 12.45.

Iran's fire chief Mohammad Farokhzadeh said the explosion was probably caused by the explosion of flammable goods in one corner of the supermarket.

While the investigation continued, the victims were rushed to the hospital in central Fars Province. According to the head of the hospital, no casualties were seriously injured.

Nevertheless, the owners of supermarkets are expected to suffer massive losses because almost the entire building is flattened to the ground.

Residents around said the explosion was so loud it sounded almost to the whole city of Shiraz.

Videos uploaded on social networks also show smoke and fire billowing up as high as the second floor of the building. The window glass of the building spilled over the shops and other buildings on the street.
