The Crazy things we do for...Life
Chapter 1
Bulgaria - easy to find
Breaking the fore Christmas routine of decoration design works and early gift wrapping – would you believe this – a good friend of mine popped up to invite me at his radio programme with a name that sounds like a long winter scarf one could entangle at least three times around their necks, and asked me to present my country in a gourmet manner. Standing in front of such a kind gesture and also an intriguing challenge, I expressed myself more or less in the following emotional contest:
Pheeewww…I’d be happy to. Let me just fetch my books!
For those of us keen to collect ages and eras back in time as a raw treasure of our roots, it wouldn’t be weird to say that I had over five books of compilations neatly made and decorated by me with ribbons, wrap ropes and tiny metal ornaments, which old-time stuff content is of particular charm. Fingers and glances running hastily through the pages were stopping only to detect yet another impressive entry around, at which a festive table could be set and close friends gather together to share…Time. Images of signature music, art, cuisine and most refined wines started to whirl like merry-go-round and I was able to stop and pick one of each at catching a breath pauses.
The importance of being…reasonable in love. Remember the last breath-taking view that your eyes caught for you to treasure. Aham? Do you remember what did you love the most about it? Aham! Alas, one thing I could call to remembrance is not a shape, but a content – a rich fusion of sounds, scents and colours, speeded up and burst in my brain to tiny particles of one unique image. Undoubtedly, it is a love unreasonable, the one that is not to be explained. It weaved like a silk thread into all the choices I made that day. I picked my books and went (to) Crazy.
Let me take you on a ride…again?
Following the beaten path, I'm going to start from The Beginning. A welcome drink at the front foyer is almost a must. As the Sun is rising inevitably each new day from the East, so is our refreshment today…some say it’s Oriental, @jackmiller says it’s from Turkey, I say – it’s Oriental. One could find various versions of the prototype in Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Serbia and Macedonia, Greece and even in Germany for the sake of a decent distances travel. Ours is Ракия.
Raki=Turkish word for the actual spirit (drink). Ja=Me. Raki+Ja=Raki+Me
The requirement to have a food partner to it is unavoidable and varies with one’s attitude towards the premium tastes for Life. In case the time captures you with us here you may define yourself for the firm classic Шопска салата or decide to be bold and stay the night on that amazing smooth inner warmth drink with something more substantial like Баница for instance. How do we manage our hosts highly set requirements, disguised as concentrated dynamic toasts of loud Наздраве! The incomplete so far Steemit Book of Wisdom gives a nice tip: Climbandwalkaroundit! In this case, this should be thought as of more substantial food and even more water…and let’s the bravest survive!
Voila, folks! It’s time to pull down some myths about the Bulgarians. Not that we don’t want to warm up our plates for cooked dishes, we just don’t like warmed-up dishes (here included stories and news also). We prefer it HOT. For the purpose we have beautiful women, potent men and clay pots. As a matter of fact we prefer it so HOT that some of us perform traditional dances bare foot on preheated coals. I mentioned this one once very vaguely, but you probably didn’t take me seriously. Repeating it for good – we call them Нестинари. You could see them and enjoy their dance next summer when you come at the seaside for your summer holiday. You could also come back to me after that with your deranged impressions. It is more than obvious that this is a …to be continued story. Please, consider visiting @crazybgadventure’s spot
