USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I take the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

Price Averages:

  • STEEM: $0.92026
  • SBD: $1.00570

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $0.89878
  • SBD: $0.97239

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Linked Accounts

hitbtc includes hitbtc-exchange and hitbtc-payout, freewallet.org includes freewallet, and openledger includes openledger-dex.

Withdrawal to Deposit Ratio by User Count over Time

Commentary

  • As mentioned in my last report, the withdrawal to deposit ratio has changed quite a bit due to a change in the code which was previously excluding blank memos. This week we're starting a new graph with the updated data.

  • Interesting to see @tostitos cashing out almost a million bucks after @steemit2 sent them 2,815,000 STEEM with a "balance paid in full" memo. I assume that was a contractor account? I wonder what Steemit got for their money. I've asked Steemit, the company, what their financial transparency policies are to see if they might comment on this. Clearly, they can do whatever they want and don't have to tell us anything, but without official answers people will make up their own explanations.

  • Wow, we have a brand new investor in @checkthisout to the tune of almost $200k. Their account was created via anonsteem just 8 days ago.

  • The decline in people powering down next week is 28.94% in the green compared to the previous week.

This is the kind of content that keeps the community alive! Great post, will follow.

It's a real great information sir . There are many big name over there

I can't believe that such withdrawal from here, It's hard to me to even imagine that large amount. Omg .

tengo mucho que aprender sobre esto, muchos números y mucho dinero manejado.. saludos amigo.

Great information! Thank you for sharing.

It's interesting to see such withdrawals at the same time Steem price is going up a little. Do you think users are taking it to trade/speculate on shorter term price movements, rather than divesting? Do you have any long-term charts plotting withdrawal ratios against price history?

If you go back through my old reports, you can find quite a bit of historical data on the exchange transfer amounts, but I don't know how well it correlates with the price data. That might be interesting to determine. I used to do really detailed breakdowns per hour on the exchange transfers but it was just too much work to keep up with organizing the charts and such.

Figuring out even just the averages week by week might be interesting though. That said, it also changes so quickly that a weekly average may not say much.

Yes, absolutely the weekly average won't capture anything, but plotted against withdrawal/deposit ratio it could show an interesting trend.

You're absolutely right about how much work that kind of analysis takes. That's why I was hoping you had something already. If I can find the time this week I might put something together... Ha! It's already hard enough blogging every day on top of a full time job.

Some big amounts moving. Thanks for this report.

Love your Mission Statement Brother!

Thank you. :)

Interesting spam. Visit my flag.

lol, so many spammers now. One guy is commenting "steemit is dead" on everything. We also have people like @monitorcap and @markboss spamming too. It is getting ridiculous

Mute is a thing we might all want to use more.

One thing I'm considering is a way we could publish our mute lists and maybe crowd source them. If we had shared mute lists of note bot accounts we could all use, that could greatly improve our user experience.

mute might be a good thing but this would not stop them from taking a big piece of the daily reward pool.
its feeling like death by a thousand paper cuts

Also, it's a great way to spread personal vendettas.

Why, yes. Yes, I have seen this sort of idea in action.

Mute would be awesome if it was Block, but it's not.

In this anarchy utopia, though, the only way to signal to the world that there is trouble is to flag a person and leave a comment. Now, imagine if those actions could be blocked.

It doesn't matter what system is concocted. It is broken before it starts because people are broken.

Great Idea. I will compile a list in the next few days and get it posted.
