What's Love Got To Do With It?

With Valentine’s Day upon us, our thoughts turn to love. So let us delve into the depths of our being and see what treasure we can bring up into the light.

First, we must ask ourselves, “What is love?” Is it an emotion? A chemical process? Is it a contract like marriage? Is it a state of being? Or is it an action such as charity?

The simple answer is, “Yes.” It is all of these things, but it is something more. Love should be the filter we use when deciding how to interact with the world around us.

As we strive to be a more conscience animal, we must hold love as our highest goal. This is for one very fundamental reason: we as a species crave it.

But from where does this desire originate? Love, like all things, flows out from the self. As we meditate on this, we bring our mind to the centre of our being, the centre of our universe. There we find the true essence of love. It is the non-judgemental peace of the infinite Void of Chaos.

Allow me to explain my concept of the Void of Chaos.

Many religions and mythologies have a great void usually consisting of water from which the universe is created. Science has shown that this void is ever present in the cosmos by the fact that particles are constantly popping in and out of existence in a vacuum of space [1]. I hold that void to be the singularity from which the Big Bang exploded. It is the sum of infinite possibility. But even more than that, every conscience being holds their own Void of Chaos within themselves. And it is from this chaos that we pull the materials needed to build our person and the life we want to lead.

Coming back to love.

In the birth of Aphrodite the Greeks, form whom we have inherited the bulk of our western culture, have the goddess of love being born from the white sea foam (Void of Chaos) produced from the detached genitalia of Uranus (heaven or space) after being severed and thrown into the see by his son Cronos (time) [2]. From this story we can see how love is the by-product of a war waged by space and the progression of time.

So, how is it that love is produced from such a violent act? The war is just a symbol of change happening to the unchanging. And any change from an uninformed perspective is always frightening.

The trinity of Mind Body Spirit

So first there is space, a state of being in perfect harmony. Then there is action (the sequence of time) moving in the stillness bringing chaos out of stagnation. And from this comes love.

All action is change, and change should always move with the creation of love.

Love of Self

Love of self feeds the inner human craving satisfying our thirst for non-judgemental acceptance.

Once we see the underlying truth of the universe, that all things great and small are fundamentally not only connected but essentially the same, we can see ourselves in all of creation. Therefore when we love ourselves, we love everything. This makes self love the fountain from which all love should flow.

Thank you for coming down this path with me. Until next time, keep dreaming!

Hello there, @elderflower :)
that was a nice sum up and relation of love to everything!
Love is like the glue that keeps everything together and, true, if you can love yourself you don't have to always crave it from the outside (which I think is only an aspect of love, probably craving for more love just the same), so if you are filled with love, you attract love from the outside
Thank you very much for posting this and have an awesome day!
