EOS = Steem + Ethereum(EVM or eWASM)?

in #ethereum7 years ago

Many times i heard that EOS is ethereum killer, superior to it. I wanted to check it by my self, as EOS is not 100% ready and working (nice job with dawn 1.0 release) i to the github and read EOS technical whitepaper on the github

It looks like EOS will be combination of the steem blockchain in the terms of blockchain technology(fees, consensus algorithm, scalability, transaction handling) with extended permissions mechanism and ethereum blockchcain in the terms of smart contracts system because it will use or EVM(ethereum virtual machine) or WASM (web assembl) that also will be based on the something what Ethereum developers started eWASM

I see many adventages of steem blockchain over ethereum blockchain at the moment, but if EOS is based on the ethereum how can it be superior to it? It might be better than current Ethereum version, but will be it better then future versions of ethereum like serenity or other unplaned versions?

Sort:

EOS is not based on Ethereum at all and it will not use the EVM

This is correct, as I understand it WASM scripting language is being implemented in EOS by Block One. WASM is supported by all major browsers. Having said that "The details of scripting language and virtual machine are implementation specific details that are mostly independent from the design of the EOS.IO technology." from the technical white paper. Details of WASM and results of early tests in EOS can be found in this post by @dantheman https://steemit.com/eos/@dantheman/web-assembly-on-eos-50-000-transfers-per-second

There is also parallel processing with EOS which Ethereum dosen't have albiet a topic of discussion, Vitalik has more or less already wrote off Ethereum and its off-chain scaling solutions and is looking to Ethereum 2.0 for on-chain scaling and a concept based on sharding.

Clearly, EOS will be superior to Ethereum in so many ways... Maybe when/if Ethereum changes to POS or if the concept of Ethereum 2.0 is successful the oposite could be argued, until such time, EOS is simply the best.

thanks for the dan post will read it later

Does it mean Steem will be obsolete? And forgotten?

That's good question, i guess it will be easy to create steemlike portal based on the eos blockchain. For sure steem has great user base, but it will be easier to develop new decentralized publishers ecosystem basing on eos tokens, and it will be better also, why? because there won't be rewards for the witnesses :) - more for users.

What do we do here then :>

beta testers

Maybe then users will start reading posts :D

That would be evolutionary
