13-6gpu Ethereum mining rigs set up Pictures, Overall Costs, and Apps That I Am Using.

in #ethereum7 years ago (edited)

Here are some pictures of my 13-6gpu Ethereum mining rig set up. These are running 24/7 non stop even in this super hot heat wave we are already having here in Las Vegas. The outside temps have already hit past 117f the other day and nothing below 115f now. It is amazing how strong these mining rigs are even at these extreme temps. Inside where my Mining Rigs are set up the temperature has reached up to 99f inside. I am currently just using an evaporative cooler, and utilizing three very powerful floor fans to help keep the air moving upward into the nice cool air coming out of the evaporative cooler.
Here is a breakdown of the equipment and apps that I am using and their costs.

  1. Home -Built wooden 6gpu mining rig frame-$12
  2. Biostar TB85 Motherboard-$85-$150
  3. 120GB SSD-$45-$55
  4. Intel Celeron G1840 LGA1150 2.8GHz Processor-$45
  5. 4GB DDR3 Ram Memory-$20-$30
  6. 2-EVGA 750Watt GQ Power Supply Units-$180 for two psu's or $90 each
  7. 6-AMD RX 470/480 4GB/8GB gpu's-$180-$230 each or a total of $1080-$1320
  8. Windows 10 Professional 64bit Version Key-$5
  9. 6-GPU Power Riser Cards-$5 each or a total of $30
  10. Cat5e Internet Cable $2
  11. Belkin 8-Outlet Power Surge Protector 15amp-$20
  12. Digital Watt Power Meter Plug Reader-$11
  13. 2Pin PwrBtn Power Supply Switch-$0.25

There are other things that i purchased based on setting up 13 of these 6pgu rigs like 2-6ftx4ftx2ft 4 shelf metal racks, two multi-port outlets, 3 floor fans, several 10awg (10 Gauge) power cords, 6 industrial floor mats, Cat5e 60ft extension cable, one dozen paper clips to short circuit the second power supply unit on each rig build, a DVD Rom external drive, a multi-usb outlet plug, an external usb drive to install Windows and other Apps, a usb mouse, usb key board, and a Samsung 23 inch LCD Screen TV/Monitor, and a small movable table top.

Here are the Apps that i used. Claymore Miner, Nicehash Miner, Trixx 3.0, GPUZ, Open Hardware Monitor, Team Viewer Management Console, ethermine.org, and nicehash.com.

I am getting between 21mh/s to 27mh/s per gpu card. I do not mess with any of the bios, but I do however do some overclocking and undervolting using the Trixx 3.0 app.

All of my miner rigs are pretty stable, they usually only need to be reset if they have been overclocked too much or the miner website has issues.

I hope that this is useful to others and please upvote my posts here and feel free to comment on anything you would like to comment on or ask about. Everything you see here was built with my own two hands and my current knowledge about computers and crypto mining. I had some tips and helpful ideas from: Cryptomined, Bits Be Trippin', TheBitcoinMiner, and IMineBlocks. I wanted to give a big thanks and shout out to these guys as they give up their knowledge and time to us Cryptominers.

Nice minimalistic open air case design.

Thanks. I love the design because my cards are able to be spread far apart and i get 360 degree air flow which keeps my rigs temps under control even in these extreme hot summer temperatures here in Las Vegas. Are you mining anything yourself?

Thanks, it is able to handle temps of over 102f inside my mining room so far, as it's already been over 122f outside here in Las Vegas.

what r u mining bro

Currently I am mining Ethereum, but I can also mine Zcash, Monero, Pascal Coin, SIB Coin (X11 Ghost), DBIX (Dubai Coin), and any other GPU Mined coins.

how much ether you have

Several coins.

never enough, how much do you have?

Where would you recommend doing research on building a rig? I'm interested in building a 6x1070 gtx to mine zcash

eth, dbix, and some other alt coins, what are you mining?

Wow, awesome set up! How long until ROI is achieved?

Hey Thanks for your kind words. Right now it is hard to give an acccurate time limit for R.O.I. with the price going up and down, the difficulty increasing as well as the dag limits going up; however, even with me paying my correct amount of income, self employment, and short or long term cap gains taxes I am hoping I will get my R.O.I. back in definitely less than 6 months, but can be sooner if the price goes up again. Also soon the Ethereum Ice Age Bomb will start raising the difficulty level at an exponential rate, and at that time i may have to switch over to the NiceHash.com site to mine the other alt coins like Zcash, Monero, Pascal Coin, SIB Coin etc. Are you currently mining or buying ETH or any other alt coins?

I had originally a goal of 10 months for ROI, hopefully it will be a little sooner.

good post, for the new guys in mining

Thanks, i hope it helps new miners and even older miners.

Very nice! I have a couple questions about your swamp cooler. I have a similar setup, where I have about 70 GPUs running on a 4 foot rack just like yours. Our climate has very hot and dry summers also, and I'm trying to find the best cooling solution. Have you had any issues with your swamp cooler? Do you know what size it is (CFM)? And you said you're blowing the hot air directly into the swamp cooler, not blowing cool air in from behind the rigs, right?

My rigs are housed in a 4'x8' mylar tent, which has allowed me to manage dust and heat very well. I have duct fans pulling air in and out of the tent at a rate of 3000 CFM, which has worked pretty well during the winter, but it's not enough for summer. I'm trying to figure out how big of a swamp cooler I might need to provide additional cooling.

Thanks for sharing!

You are very welcome and thanks.
