Stellar over Ethereum?
First off, Jed McCaleb is a very smart man when it comes to blockchain technology. Not only did he create the peer-to-peer technology eDonkey and Overnet, he also developed Ripple and Mt. Gox (which was a big milestone for Bitcoin before then being sold to Mark Karpelès). Our boy Da Hong Fei has even said that the briliance of Ripple was one project that gave him the inspiration for NEO, during his interview with Tyler Swope. This was of course before big business got involved and distorted it into something different than what Jed had originally envisioned I imagine.
Now we have Jed McCaleb's new baby, Stellar Lumens, #XLM, where a combination of great ideas and experience have blended to make a really great platform. We recently saw Irene Energy, #TLU, switch from Ethereum's ERC20 over to Stellar. With what seems like a new blockchain platform launching every other week, Stellar Lumens stands out as one of the top in tech and vision.

What do these project find interesting about Stellar over Ethereum? Cheaper and faster transaction while being easily scalable is a good place to start. Plus it seems start-up cost and integration are free using the Stellar Network. There is a lot of good info on their website, where I encourage you look and see for yourself.

Do I see Stellar as a threat to Ethereum?
I personally don't feel like it or any other platforms are a threat to Ethereum. It's just my opinion, but in the future I think most platforms will be inter-operable in some way, shape, or form. They will more than likely support, rather than hinder, each other. It's hard not to imagine Stellar Lumen being a big player.
