Not just EOS, but NEO, Zilliqa, MatrixChain, etc. 2017 the "chain-as-a-platform" war kicked off as more and more projects started aiming for Ethereum's place and we'll start to see the results of that this year. The one thing Ethereum has going for it is a lot of the hyped ICOs from last year will get released this year and we'll start to see what real adoption looks like.

We'll see how it goes. I'd be thrilled to see $15k ETH EOY, but I'll keep my budgets set for $10k or less since I think competing chains will give it enough resistance to hold off a massive breakaway until 2019 when scaling issues have been dealt with.
