BURN UP - a real Ethereum boardgame?

What? Is this an Ethereum game with actual gameplay?

There seems to be a new Ethereum game every week, but so far most of them are either hot potato games or very early in the development.

So what about BURNUP?

The explanation reads like this:
BURNUP is an action paced hot potato board game incorporating unique game mechanics, strategy and wit. The game is played on a gameboard we create. Your mission is to flip the tiles on the gameboard and either get out before others do or to be the last tile standing. Every tile on the board has its own timer and becomes more expensive with each flip. Whenever a tile is flipped, the timer resets. But be careful, if your tile is not flipped before the time of your tile burns up, you will get burned and the tile will become inactive for the rest of the game. The owner of the last tile standing wins the accumulated BURNUP reward and the game comes to an end.

Here is the gameboard before a game starts:

... and half an hour into the first game on Mainnet it looks like this:

Since it's an Ethereum game of course there are a few different ways of making money as well as spending. If you own the last tile when the game ends you'll win the pot. Then there is the classic hot potato sell where the tile you own is bought by someone else returning a bit more than what you paid for it. But wait, there is more... a third way is the shell. You'll get a small amount if someone buys a tile next to you. But wait, there is even more... if you step outside the game and send someone your referral link you stand to make a small amount from not only one level of referral, but two!

The test version I've played is pretty cool. I do get the feeling that I want to "win" the game by owning the last tile, but at the same time that might not be the most profitable. If I got a lot of tiles burned on the gameboard I might still end up with a net loss. At the same time, if I wait and try to buy the very last tile on the board I might be cashing everyone elses losses! Or I might identify a key tile close to the fight and try to earn a bit on the shell payout. For now it's only been test Ether so it'll be fun to see how the game plays when there is an actual stake in it!

What's your strategy going to be? Will you cash out or BURN UP?
