Swiss City To Verify IDs Using the Ethereum Blockcahin

The Swiss City of Zug released today that beginning in September it will release and app that allows citizens to connect a person's ID with a crypto address. At which point they will be registered by members of the city government.

So how does this use the Ethereum blockchain?
Well, the app will use the uPort identity platform made by the development community Consensys. I think this is a great step for Ethereum to take and am very optimistic on the further adoption of this system.
