Bitfinex has just announced its new decentralized exchange called Ethfinex
A year ago on this day Bitfinex got hacked, then in May this year it credited the users back with the equivalent of fiat of that day. There are rumors that it was a speculation, but anyway Bitfinex seemed to learned the lesson that the future is for decentralized exchanges. Also probably it was influences by the recent news about closing BTC-e exchange by FBI.
Just few minutes ago Bitfinex announced its new decentralized exchange Ethfinex.
It's still under development and will work only for Ethereum ERC-20 tokens. In other words it will be the same as Etherdelta, but with volumes and support of Bitfinex, which could overcome the competitor. It will also be a platform for discussions, forming a decentralized ecosystem for traders.
Apart from listing only ERC-20 tokens, we should take into account that transactions on Ethereum network are very slow. So expect it to not be as usable as BitShares, at least till Ethereum moves to Proof-of-Stake. Worth to mention that even though Bitfinex is investing in EOS, it chose Ethereum for this platform, maybe just because didn't want to wait till next year for EOS launch.
