Vitalik: Ethereum's " Scalability Sucks"

in #ether7 years ago (edited)

Among other criticisms that the Ethereum creator believes is valid, which is listed as follows:

--Scalability sucks; The design of blockchain basically relies on bottlenecks where individual nodes have to
process each transaction in the entire network.
--PoW is extremely expensive and is also fundamentally vulnerable to spawning 51% camping attacks without paying strategy to recover from that. Selfish extraction is the profitable start at 25-33% hashpower and censorship attacks of 51% are certainly profitable.
--Privacy sucks.
--It is hard for regular users to hold large amounts of funds without carrying out the substantial risks of theft
or loss due to theft or loss of their private keys.

--The economy does not encourage good "storage hygiene"; Insufficient incentives to approve storage and insufficient cost to fill it, especially for long periods of time
--Bundle of various marginal technical inefficiencies.
--It's hard for regular users to know that the contracts with which they interact do what they say they do and have no accidental or malicious bugs.

The unlikely statement, which is demonstrative of intellectual honesty, came as a result of a post made to Ethereum de Reddit's community trade. The author of the post decided to praise the Buterin's treatment of a recent post done in the alternative Bitcoin subreddit, r / BTC. Roger Ver had quoted the developer of Heart of Bitcoin and occasionally the brandon Gregory Maxwell saying, "Turing perfection is pointeless on a blockchain anyway. So no worry, Ethereum’s long term value is still ~0. :)”.

Buterin played the path of conversation normally, and ended up noting that the Ethereum developers meetings are now open and saved, so that anyone with a "centralization" beef with regards to the Ethereum development process can see How it actually works. When the original poster of the trader Ethereum greeted Buterin, he made an unexpected statement at the beginning of the article - criticisms of his own invention, which he agrees and wants to work for improvement. The discussion is interesting for anyone interested in Ethereum, while Buterin shares more thoughts on the future of Ethereum after the recent blockchain congestion that has prevented many of our readers from participating in various offers of original parts On the Ethereum platform.

For example, when he was questioned about his opinion on the approach Rootstock of the putting in the scale, Buterin recognized that he was "very interesting", but added that the same result is already possible with the basic design of Ethereum:

"Fortunately, contracts ethereum can make it already, although the incentives to do that way things are not still enough brought up; it is a special case of 5. It will be necessary to be solved with the strong increase in prices of creation of account SSTORE / account or of storage."

thank you

There's already crazy amounts of transactions going on Ethereum, and even tho there are some problems the team behind Ethereum will fix all the scaling issues.

However, it will be interesting to see the competition between EOS and Ethereum.
