The normal stealth, awareness, and mania phases are all aligned with today's investment world which is built around Angels, Seeds, and VCs. They normally play along this curve. The public doesn't get in until much later.
Compare this to the ethereum and crypto world, where the public is there from the beginning with ICOs and open markets. Anyone with a computer, the ability to read some help posts, and some investment cash can interact with this currency/investment/gamble.
So, I think the old models don't make a great fit, as noted in your picture.
