DEXs have a long way to go to compete at scale with centralised exchanges, but they are heading towards more user friendliness and looking more and more like a serious alternative. Security is a growing concern and decentralised exchanges provide a far more secure alternative to store and exchange cryptocurrencies. This is also why blockbasis decided to extend from sending and receiving cryptocurrency for free via an email, to offer exchange of coins on a DEX. In the near future, if not already, cryptocurrency exchanges are going to be the central point of failure for the crypto community, and providing a competitive alternative with decentralisation is necessary for cryptocurrencies' to fulfil its original promises
