Pomegranate (punica granatum) is a fruit plant that can grow up to 5-8 m. This plant is thought to have originated from Iran, but has long been bred in the Mediterranean region. The Moors named one of the ancient cities of Spain, Granada by the name of this fruit. This plant is also widely grown in areas of South China and Southeast Asia.

Pomegranate comes from the Middle East, spread over the subtropics to the tropics, from the lowlands to below 1,000 m asl. Sometimes, there are patches that are somewhat prominent in older color. The seeds are many, small, rounded shape that is slightly flat, hard, arranged irregularly, red, pink, or white.
