The power of influence part two

In our last post we discussed the power of influence. We are going to look at the four stages of influence. We mention them as

1. Modeling
2. Motivation
3. Mentoring
4. Multiplying

Modeling

Modeling simply means representation, showing. Like the saying goes, "tell me something, and I may forget but show it to me I will always remember". People tend to be influenced first by what they see, rather than what the hear. This is because seeing they say is believing for most people. If you are perceived as being positive, trustworthy and upright, they will seek you as an influence, a role model, in their lives. The better they get to know you, the greater your credibility. One interesting exception to the modeling process occurs on the case of celebrities. Because of their preoccupation with the media, many people are strongly influence by them, though they might not have meet them before.

Motivation.

To motivate means to encourage, one should never underestimate the power of motivation. It gives the strength and courage to do difficult things, to fight and overcome the different problems we face in life. Being a motivational influence enables you to encourage people and communicate with them on an emotional level. It gives you both a sympathetic and empathetic feeling and you become able to connect deeper with them because people only sometimes, communicate freely with people whovthey feel feel their pains. The process of motivation helps to bridge between you the influence and the people you are influencing. It Aldo builds confidence and a sense of self worth, when people feel good about you and themselves during the time they are with you, your level of influence increase significantly.

Mentoring.

Mentoring as the act of pouring one's self into others and helping them reach their full potentials. The power of mentoring is so strong that you actually get to see the life's of people you are influencing change right before your eyes. As you give your self helping them overcome obstacles in their lives showing them how to grow personally and professionally, you help them achieve a whole.

Multiplying.

The highest level of influence one can achieved is multiplication level. As a multiplying influencer, you help the people you are influencing to become positive influences in the life of others and pass not only what they have received from you but also what the learned on their own. You can be a model to the masses, but to go higher levels of influence, you have to work with individuals.

We have recognize the value of influence on others, you must think about what level of influencer you are going to be. Even if you have negative influence on others in the past, you still turn around and try to make a positive one. I am not looking to change the entire world at a time but one individual is all it will take me to make the difference. Mother Theresa once said " I strive to be a drop of clean water in an ocean". I charge you to be your best in being a positive influencer. Being social beings means we can always influence one another. In the words of _ Ralph Waldo Emerson._ "Every man is a hero and an oracle to somebody, and to that person what so ever he says has entranced value".
