Volcanic eruptions on the Moon occurred 3.5 billion years ago

in #esteem7 years ago (edited)

Scientists managed to create an unusual new map, the volcanic eruption map on the Moon shows that the explosive eruption debris around it is much larger than previously thought.

Mapping based on analysis of thorium radioactive elements vomited during the eruption. The scientists found that with the help of low-moon gravity, the volcanic eruption of the moon volcano was able to cover an area of Scotland or about 70,000 square kilometers.

This time, a team of astronomers and geologists from the Institute for Computational Cosmology and Durham University-UK are studying the moon's surface area at the Compton-Belkovich Volcanic Complex.

The results of this analysis were written by Jack Wilson, and presented in the 46th 'Lunar And Planetary Science Conference' event in Texas on March 19, 2015.

#Volcanic Eruption Analysis On The Moon

Based on the results of the research, this study used data obtained from NASA Lunar Prospector, which detected the presence of volcanic sites in 1999.

NASA detected an isolated deposit of thorium on the farthest side of the Moon, between the impacts of Compton and Belkovich craters.

Based on these findings, the deposit is difficult to learn because it is hidden under the rubble of meteorite impact. But Lunar Prospector does not detect gamma rays emitted from thorium that can penetrate one meter.

The eruption of the volcano on the Moon is estimated 3.5 billion years ago.
As a result, the mountain threw rocks from the flow of molten rock and hot gas, five times farther than the one that had buried the city of Pompeii-Roman.

Based on this data, the team of scientists used an image repair technique called "Pixon". This technique was originally designed to trace the universe, to sharpen the map and reveal the thorium deposits at the volcanic eruptions on the moon.

By mapping the radioactive contents of the moon's lava volcano, scientists were able to explain the liquid in the form of radioactive rocks thrown far beyond the slopes of a volcano, reaching hundreds of miles in one direction.

Jack Wilson, says that the volcano is active in the early life of the moon and even the dark side of the moon is filled with sea water, rich in iron, lava flooding large areas, filling craters and low land.

The eruption of light-colored, poor iron, lava creates volcanic cones, this is a rare condition and there are only a few volcanic sites.
Explosive explosion of unknown lava has also occurred in other regions.

The research team plans to apply the mapping technique to the largest volcano in the solar system, they call Olympus Mons on Mars.

In addition to the thorium radioactive elements, scientists will also look for hydrogen and possibly the remnants of ice water from glaciers located on the high slopes Mars.
