This was the question in quora.I have answered it in quora.Also i am sharing same answer here.I also share it on twitter.

Both are profitable. I want to focus on which one is more profitable.Both are reputed coin.They have establish basement.There are some difference between this two reputed crypto currency.Which coin will give more returns.

Steem Info

Steem rank 75th now based on total market capital(source:coingecko)
total supply 367 million
circulating supply 324 million
current daily trading volume of today 1.75 million
Steem All time high was 8.19$ in january 2018
Steem All time low was 0.07 in mar 2017
Total Market capital 56.98 million usd.
Today price 16.92 cent.

Stellar Info

Stellar rank 11th now based on total market capital(source:coingecko)
total supply 50 billion
circulating supply 20 billion
current daily trading volume of today 265 million
Stellar All time high was 87 cent in january 2018
Stellar All time low was 0.0004 in mar 2015
Total Market capital 1.24 billion usd.
Today price 6 cent.

You can check info of both crypto currency. It look like stellar is more profitable. But i will say steem is more profitable than stellar. I have so many reason for it. I want to show you some major differences.

Total supply and Circulating supply

Stellar has 20 billion circulating supply. They locked 30 billion coin as a reserve. It is true they are a part of ripple. Ripple company has strong basement in world. They have another crypto coin which created history at 2017. That is xrp. Although stellar has huge supply but stellar price is better if i compare other alt coin with same supply.
On the other side steem has very few supply compare with stellar. Steem has 2 crypto coin.One is steem and other one sbd. Third one is coming next month which name is Smart Media Token. Steem has only 324 million supply. We know lower supply with higher demand can price up. So, steem has more room to go. I think steem price is not fair price now.

Strong Basement

Stellar is a open source decentralized crypto currency. It has own payment system which connect bank, individual, financial organization. Ripple development is going significantly. They already connected so many big bank with their payment network. They create a payment system which is faster than any network. We have to accept that stellar has very strong basement.

Steem has blockchain based social media platform which established at 2016. This platform already become very popular in worldwide. They are bringing 3rd coin SMT in next month. This Smart media token will be a platform like ethereum 2. Where you can issue,create, exchange your own token. So, it must be a good development for steem.

My opinion

I must focus on circulating supply. With huge supply stellar can not give huge profit to investor even though they have more strong basement. I want to share a example here. We all know about Dash, which is also a major crypto currency. Dash has only 9.3 million circulatting supply. Dash price is now 107 dollar. Dash all time high was 1493 dollar at december 2017. Dash has no strong basement like steem or stellar. But dash very very few supply compare to other crypto coin.
So, My opinion is it will be more profitable to invest Steem than stellar.
