Faith in Humanity #2
Prologue
The battle between good and evil isn't about wins and losses. The battle is about stamina. How long can good, or evil, stand triumphant with the other nipping at their heels? How long can one stand against the pressures of change and entropy? No matter the victor, stories abound of those among us that rail against overwhelming odds. These are some stories of humanity that will either raise us or press us into submission.
Introduction
Welcome, fellow Steemians, to our second installment in the Faith in Humanity series. During this series, we discuss everyday acts of humanity that may either restore your faith in humanity or crush it.
#1 Water...Where Needed
In the town of Kaipara, New Zealand, frequent drought conditions coupled with minimal rainfall, put the city at risk. People, as well as businesses, require the consumption of water to survive. With rivers and reservoirs at critically low levels, no one knew what could be done to alleviate their situation. What surprised the community during this event, however, was a business that went into overdrive to support the community (NewsHub).
The dairy company Fonterra took it upon itself to deliver upwards of 90,000 liters of water/day to surrounding communities impacted by the droughts. Their efforts didn't solve the causes of the drought, but it did help alleviate the thirst of the people and the businesses in the area (NewsHub).
#2 A Shining Light for Those not Seen
Everyone has to travel. Even those of us that do not see may find themselves utilizing any mode of transportation to get from one place to another. Unfortunately, the risks they are exposed to are higher than if they had sight.
Crossing the street, for instance, requires additional vigilance on the part of the blind as they can't always tell when a vehicle approaches. The blind must rely on the drivers on the road to be able to follow driving rules accurately.
Enter Dontarius and Dyamond Caldwell into the scene (ABC13News).
They intervened when a blind woman was about to cross a street to keep her from getting hit. Prompted by his sister, Dontarius asked the older woman if she needed help crossing. He then took her hand and escorted her across (ABC13News).
Images of Dontarius escorting the woman went viral and led to their story being reported by local news. Dontarius' high school provided him gifts of hoodies and candy as a reward for his kindness. Come on, people! How about free education? Scholarship?
#3 Stolen. Declared Dead. Trafficked. Reunited.
A parent's worse nightmare. Told by the doctor's of their daughter's heart condition, parents followed the direction to return in several days so they could work on the newborn child. The parents, not wanting to interfere, did as instructed and returned sometime later. Doctor's report that the baby girl died during treatment, and there was nothing they could do to keep her alive (Deseret News).
Doctors lied to the parents. They made arrangements with local orphanages to have the child adopted in the United States. They pocketed anywhere between $15000 - $20000 for the exchange.
Twenty-five years later, armed with her faith in God and assistance from the Operation Underground Railroad, the baby girl, now 25, saw her Romanian family for the first time. Tears...form in my eyes watching the pain and joy in their faces (Deseret News).
Warning - Teary-Eyed Alert
#4 Fights to protect lives. Now, fights to save his own.
Heroes come in many forms and names. The name of a hero, in this instance, is Premkant Baghel (The Logical Indian). Riots in Delhi sparked cases of violence against Muslim residents in the area.
Premkant Baghel, heedless of his safety, rushed to the aid of multiple Muslim residents when their homes were set ablaze by rioters. He succeeded before suffering severe burns saving his friend's mother. The emergency services could not reach him until the next morning, where emergency services treated him at a local hospital (The Logical Indian).
#5 A Human Shield Protects Schoolchildren
In the rioting city of Delhi, residents of Yamuna Vihar form a human chain to ensure schoolgirls are safely escorted (The Logical Indian). There is no word of the success of this protection detail at this time. Our hopes and prayers go out to everyone, trying to ride out or stop the riots in Delhi.
Humanity in Review
Apart from natural catastrophes, my faith in humanity depends on the entire spectrum of activity. I admire and commend these acts of heroism and kindness, but must wonder why, in heavens name, we can't apply our kindness and understanding before riots occur. I can only imagine the kind of world we would live in if we stopped to think about what we were going to do before we did it.

Your app is awesome for desktop PCs. Somewhat glitchy though on iPhone 7 plus, but I'm not hating on you. Thank you for your support!
What parts or pages are glitchy please elaborate so we can fix?
@esteemapp
I'll compile something for you guys over the next week or so. I'll turn toward using the eSteem app exclusively to provide better feedback.
Great, looking forward to it. Thanks!
Making safe passage for children to get to school safely, a proactive way of ensuring things happen the way they should but don't always. Intervention by village is remarkable.
Why I selected this post, the people are finding a way to curb the problem rather than sit back bemoaning a situation. Unless you get up and do something nothing will change.
@joanstewart
Thank you for your response. I agree that people tend to lament the situation. I don't know, however, that we can always avoid it. In the instances provided, we saw how reacting quickly put people on a better path. The next article will show examples of what happens when casting a blind, or incompetent, eye toward a problem.
People are worried more by the "What if vs What can I do".
Our world is totally overpopulated with unemployment rife in many parts, there is no quick fix.
You are definitely correct @joanstewart. The world doesn't exist in a vacuum. Each change implemented causes somewhat of a butterfly effect within society.
Faith in humanity 😉.. Thats a great idea for a blog.. I really liked the water example you gave.. There are some companies that do far worst and sell it for horrible prices, thinking if nestle there.. Glad to see you spreading faith 🙏👍
@adalger
Thank you for your response and support. We all have faith in something. It doesn't have to be religious in nature though it's easy to argue religious despite belief in a deity.
My choice for the "Faith in Humanity" series is to highlight acts that raise and crush our spirits during our day-to-day lives. You can't have light without the dark. Perhaps shining light on both may change or spur action. We shall see.
Some serious and important issues has been discussed. All are current scenario
@engrsayful
Thank you for your response. In this series, I try to highlight events as current as possible. I'm using search engine alerts to bring these events to my attention. Also, I want to highlight things that succeed, as well as, fail in our attempts to uplift our society.
Luarbiasa..
Faith in humanity: restored. We could stick to looking at the sadness of the beginning, but I think it's healthier and better to focus on the positive side of it. That's why I felt warmth in my heart reading this post ❤️ thank you. Have a good one!🌙
@mariacaffrey
Thank you for your kind words and support. The series has a special place in my heart. Hopefully, my faith will be uplifted as I explore topics for this series.
